Roughhead was a natural footballer that was highly rated.
The players that we seem to "reach" for are the player that bloomed late. Only took up the game later. Only decided to take footy seriously later. McKay (whilst has way more potential) another case of reaching for a "raw" or "late blooming" player which I would prefer to avoid.
We're talking about 2 different things.
There's taking players in a different order to how you rate them, in order to get both players you want ie Roughhead and Buddy, and potentially, McKay and Curnow.
Then there's taking the player you rate, contrary to general consensus, ie Cripps, Boekhorst.
Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're not.
