Hello coaches!

With the GF done and dusted and a new champion crowned, it must be time for the end of season awards to be presented.

Just like last year, there are three end of season awards up for grabs for AFLTM players. The three awards and the time that these awards will begin are listed below:

AFLTM Rising Star - 7:00pm Thursday 10th September
AFLTM All Australian Team - 7:00pm Tuesday 15th September
AFLTM League Best and Fairest - 7:00pm Thursday 17th September

The rising star award will be a single post, listing all players nominated for the season before counting down the top 5 in the award.

The All Australian team will be released line by line, starting with the full backline. The coach of the year will also be announced as part of this. Likely to take less than an hour.

The League Best and Fairest will be released round by round so be sure to get online during this one if possible as it is likely to run for a couple of hours so there is plenty of time for comments.

Good luck to all coaches, hope one of your players can win an award!

Great work fightingfury_88 !

My tips Rising Star - P Cripps, MVP - T Goldstein

AA from my team - J Lewis, J Gunston, outside chances B Ebert, Z Merrett
Sweeping the two main awards would be nice!

Cripps won't make the AA team, but Goldy should, also Heppell. Not overly sure on criteria but Thompson had a good year, as did Harvey in the forward pocket.

2015 AFL TM Rising Star Award
This award is given to the player who is deemed to be one of the best up and coming stars in the competition. To be eligible for this award the player must be 21 years or younger as of the start of the year as well as played 10 or fewer AFL games at the beginning of the season.

Each week of the AFLTM home and away season, the player who fits the above criteria and has scored the most points for the week is nominated for the Rising Star award if they have not been nominated for the award previously in the season. In the event of a tie, both players are nominated. The Rising Star is awarded to the player who has been nominated for the award during the season and has the most total points for the full AFL year. In the event of two players having the same total points, the higher position will be awarded to the player who has the highest average. If players are still tied then the player who belongs to the team who finished higher on the ladder will be awarded the higher position. Further tie breakers are decided on total goals, disposals, hitouts, marks and then tackles in that order.

5th Place: Dom Sheed (Rot) – 1406 points in 20 games (Avg 70.30)

A quiet achiever who has added something extra to the Rottnest midfield. Showing signs of being an elite midfielder of the future.
upload_2015-9-10_18-56-56.png

4th Place: Kamdyn McIntosh (WV) – 1416 points in 22 games (Avg 64.36)
He has been around for a little while, but Kamdyn finally got the chance to shine this season and that’s exactly what he did for the Vultures. upload_2015-9-10_18-57-6.png

3rd Place: Jesse Hogan (Stk) – 1484 points in 20 games (Avg 74.20)
Amazing that a key forward can score so highly in his first full season. A special player.

upload_2015-9-10_18-57-18.png

2nd Place: Touk Miller (Riv) – 1543 points in 22 games (Avg 70.14)
The midfielder has flown under the radar this season for Rivergum and promises to be a player for the future. His ability to play all games in his debut season is a truly impressive effort.
upload_2015-9-10_18-57-27.png

1st Place: Patrick Cripps (DI) – 1723 points in 20 games (Avg 86.15)
The youngster has blossomed in his second season so much so that he is one of the higher averaged midfielders in the competition. Far and away the best Rising Star this season. If he’s not elite already then he soon will be.
upload_2015-9-10_18-57-35.png

Congratulations to all of the young players that were nominated rookies of the week this year and particularly those that have placed in the Rising Star award. Congratulations to Patrick Cripps who takes away the title. There is no doubt that Dragon Island Southerners and their coach Danoz have a special player in Cripps.

Any guesses as to who may be the award winners or AA team members?
From my side the best AA chances would be Gibson, Hurley, Shaw, Houli, Deledio and Ziebell. Armitage and Gaff had great years too, but being midfielders they have a lot more competition.
But I think I'll only get one or two in at the most as I didn't really have any stars who stood out. My strength was the next tier of players who weren't far behind the players I've listed here. It's possible that none of my players will make the AA team.

2015 AFL TM All Australian Team
Welcome to the AFL TM All Australian selection for 2015. All Australian selection is awarded to players who are deemed to be the best in their position for the season. The team consists of 6 defenders, 6 midfielders, 1 ruck and 6 forwards, with 2 key forwards and 2 key defenders to be selected as part of this starting team. One additional player each from the backline, midfield, ruck and forward line will also be selected on the interchange, meaning a total of 22 players will be selected in the All Australian team.

Selection in this team is based on the number of times a player has been named in the AFLTM Team of the Week in position (ie. Back, Midfield, Ruck, Forward). Players are only eligible to be selected in positions on the field (ie Back, Midfield, Ruck, Forward) that they are able to be selected in the AFL Fantasy competition (once positional changes have been finalised).

To qualify for selection, players must have played at least 15 AFL games during the season and must be on an AFL TM list.

In the case of a tie in the number of nominations between players in the same position, and only one position being available, selection will be awarded to the player/s who have averaged the most points over the course of the AFL home and away season. If players are still tied then the position will be awarded to the player who has played the more games in the AFL home and away season. After this, ties will be broken by the player who belongs to the higher placed AFLTM team, then the player with the most goals, then disposal, hitouts, marks and then tackles in that order.

A captain and vice-captain will also be selected, with the titles to be awarded to the players who were deemed to be the most consistent high scorers across the season (i.e. combination of high average, games played and number of selections in team of the week).

Finally, the coach of the team will be awarded to the coach with the most Team of the Week selections. If this is tied, then the selection will be awarded to the coach whose team is higher on the AFLTM Ladder.

Full Backline

Back Pocket: Liam Picken (Stk) – 8 TOTW Selections, 2021 points in 20 games (Avg 101.0)

Breakout year for the former lockdown player who incredibly had the equal highest number of TOTW nominations.

upload_2015-9-16_19-31-44.png

Full Back: Cale Hooker (Pak) 7 TOTW Selections, 1785 points in 22 games (Avg 81.1)

Second year in a row that Hooker has been named as the AA Fullback, this time with a whopping 7 TOTW selections.

upload_2015-9-16_19-31-50.png

Back Pocket: Matthew Boyd (Lau) – 5 TOTW Selections, 1880 points in 18 games (Avg 104.4)

The switch to the backline has been a huge success for the veteran. Just keeps on keeping on.

Half Backline

Half Back Flank: Luke Hodge (Pak) – 8 TOTW Selections, 1888 points in 17 games (Avg 111.1)

The 2nd Pakenham player selected already, Hodge yet again makes the AA season after another brilliantly consistent year. 8 TOTW nomination ties him for the most with Picken.

upload_2015-9-16_19-32-17.png

Centre Half Back: Josh Gibson (GC) – 4 TOTW Selections, 1791 points in 21 games (Avg 85.3)

This position was hotly contested by two Gold Coast key defenders in Gibson and Hurley but eventually Josh Gibson won out by the slimmest of margins. Like the best key defenders, Josh can both lock down an opponent and provide vital drive from the backline.

upload_2015-9-16_19-32-23.png

Half Back Flank: Heath Shaw (GC) - 5 TOTW Selections, 2113 points in 22 games (Avg 96.0)

Another Gold Coast defender who provided plenty of drive from half back. One of the most consistent defenders in the league.

Centreline

Wing: Brent Stanton (WV) – 4 TOTW Selections, 2350 points in 22 games (Avg 106.8)

Underrated player by many but Stanton continued to rack up the numbers in 2015. Always seems to be able to find the ball.

upload_2015-9-16_19-35-43.png

Centre: Lachie Neale (WV) – 5 TOTW Selections, 2236 points in 22 games (Avg 101.6)

The second Vulture in the midfield broke out this season to post some massive scores. Only going to get better from here too.

upload_2015-9-16_19-35-49.png

Wing: Scott Pendlebury (Stk) – 3 TOTW Selections, 2443 points in 22 games (Avg 111.0)

Ever reliable Pendlebury makes the AA team yet again. Didn’t post a whole lot of huge scores, as evidenced by only 3 TOTW nominations, but his consistency saw him finish 2015 with one of the highest averages in the league.

Half Forwardline

Half Forward Flank: Dane Swan (Wag) – 6 TOTW Selections, 2312 points in 21 games (Avg 110.1)

The resurgence of Swan sees him break back into the AA team in 2015 after missing out last season. He isn’t the prettiest player to watch, but he gets the job done.

upload_2015-9-16_19-40-30.png

Centre Half Forward: Lance Franklin (Geel) - 4 TOTW Selections, 1388 points in 17 games (Avg 81.6)

Didn’t have a huge average, but his tendency to post the odd huge game saw him end up with the most TOTW nominations of any key forward in the league.

upload_2015-9-16_19-40-38.png

Half Forward Flank: Brendon Goddard (Har) – 5 TOTW Selections, 2196 points in 22 games (Avg 99.8)

Goddard makes his return to the AA team after missing out in 2014. An incredibly consistent year from the former number 1 draft pick.

Full Forwardline

Forward Pocket: Steven Motlop (Geel) – 5 TOTW Selections, 1794 points in 20 games (Avg 89.7)

The mercurial forward played some absolutely brilliant football at times this season, particularly later in the year.

upload_2015-9-16_19-46-31.png

Full Forward: Jack Gunston (Har) – 3 TOTW Selections, 2029 points in 22 games (Avg 92.2)

Another Hornet, this time Gunston is named to the forwardline. Gunston was the premier key forward in the competition and has earned his selection as the Full Forward after a stella season.

upload_2015-9-16_19-46-36.png

Forward Pocket: Dustin Martin (Port) – 4 TOTW Selections, 2278 points in 22 games (Avg 103.5)

Has been an incredibly consistent player for a few years now, as evidenced by his back to back selections in the AA team.

Rucks

Ruck: Todd Goldstein (DI) (c) – 8 TOTW Selections, 2389 points in 21 games (Avg 113.8)

Brilliant season from the Southerner. One of the highest averages in the league and one of the more consistent players in the competition sees Goldstein not only named as the ruckman in the AA team, but the captain as well. Who could have seen that coming at the start of the year?

upload_2015-9-16_19-50-51.png

Ruck Rover: Jack Steven (WV) (vc) – 6 TOTW Selections, 2457 points in 22 games (Avg 111.7)

Perhaps missed by some, but Steven boasted one of the highest averages in the league and was nominated for the TOTW the most of any pure midfielder in the league. The third Vulture named to the midfield and to top things off, Steven is the Vice-Captain as well.

upload_2015-9-16_19-50-56.png

Rover: Daniel Hannebery (Stk) – 5 TOTW Selections, 2435 points in 22 games (Avg 110.7)

Another next generation star gets selected for his first AA team. Hannebery posted some big numbers for the Titans and deservedly takes his place as the rover in this team.

Interchange

Backline Interchange: David Mundy (Gip) – 4 TOTW Selections, 2217 points in 21 games (Avg 105.6)

The first Gippsland player to make the team this season, Mundy produced another solid season for the Sharks to be named in his first AA team.

upload_2015-9-16_19-56-3.png

Midfield Interchange: Jordan Lewis (Har) – 3 TOTW Selections, 2104 points in 19 games (Avg 110.7)

Faded late, but Lewis’ blistering start to the season is enough to see him earn a place in the AA team as the midfield bench player.

upload_2015-9-16_19-56-7.png

Forwardline Interchange: Tom Mitchell (Bal) – 4 TOTW Selections, 1813 points in 17 games (Avg 106.6)

When this guy plays well he posts some huge numbers. Despite being given a tagging role several times during the season, Mitchell pumped out enough big scores to not only earn enough TOTW selections, but end up with one of the highest averages for a forwardline player this season.

upload_2015-9-16_19-56-12.png

Ruck Interchange: Stefan Martin (Pak) – 6 TOTW Selections, 2281 points in 20 games (Avg 114.0)

The last player selected is the player with the highest average for the season! In any other year Stefan probably takes the starting ruck role in the AA team but due to Goldstein’s dominance will have to settle for the interchange position. Still a brilliant year from the athletic Pakenham ruckman.

Clearly the most outstanding coach in AFLTM, finished top of the ladder with an impressive record, won the premiership and was nominated a whopping 9 times as the coach of the week.

2015 League Best & Fairest

Welcome all to the 2015 AFL TM League Best & Fairest count. First of all a big congratulations to sausageroll and his Gold Coast Devils on winning the premiership!

The AFL TM League Best and Fairest award is given to the player who is deemed the best player in the league. For each game played this season 3 votes is given to the player who scored the most points in the game, 2 votes is awarded to the player with the second most points in the game and 1 vote is awarded to the player with the third highest points in the game.

In the event of two or more players having the same score in a match, the tie will be broken by awarding the higher votes to the player from the winning team. If this still doesn't split the players then the tie will be broken by awarding the higher votes to the player with more goals in the match. If players are still tied then the higher votes will be awarded to the player with the most disposals, hitouts, marks and then tackles in that order.

Voting is only conducted for the AFLTM Premiership season Home and Away Rounds which means finals and pre-season games do not count.

After the voting has been completed for all rounds, the player who has accumulated the highest amount of votes for the season will be crowned as the 2015 AFL TM League Best and Fairest. If two or more players are leading on the same amount of votes then the award will be shared amongst all leading vote-getters.

This is the third AFLTM League Best & Fairest ever held with Gary Ablett winning the previous two awards in 2013 and 2014. This year though we are likely to see a new winner. A quick look at average scores suggest that the likes of Goldstein, Pendlebury, Steven, Hodge and Stefan Martin should all poll well but without a clear standout it should be a close count. Will the winner come from one of those listed above or will someone else steal the show? There is only one way to find out!

Lewis polls a three in round 13 to take the outright lead. Can he hold on? Some high average players are really starting to poll well now and with 4 rounds of voting left there is still time for someone to make their move.

Things are getting real tight now. After leading all night, Lewis has finally relinquished the lead to the big ruckman Goldstein. Does Lewis have any more votes left this season? Hannebery, Hodge and Pendlebury look ominous and you can never count on Jack Steven, Dustin Martin and Dane Swan who have been consistent all season. Only 2 rounds left!
