Re Deledio, this year pretty much mirrors last season in terms of the first half, once he got fit he came out after the bye rounds and averaged 115 for the rest of the year so i certainly wouldn't rule him out if he gets fit again.

Round 12 really is a killer, i'll bring in Rocky and Smith next few weeks, can afford to lose them round 11 got about 22 playing, and depending on downgrade options might look to bring in Birch/Hodge and Lewis after round 11.

. Yes, I know Newnes isn't a rookie but he may as well bloody be.
things could be worse, you could have savage whose last 2 scores add up to under 50 and last month hasn't gotten over 65

You are so right here. The downgrade options will really define what changes we can make but as of right now nobody knows what options will apear. will define the season for most.

Assuming no more trades (which wont happen....), is this fairly consistent with others?

Week 11 -- 6 backs, 7 mids, 2 rucks, 6 fwds (21 total)
Week 12 -- 4 backs, 5 mids, 1 ruck, 6 fwds (16 total)
Week 13 -- 6 backs, 8 mids, 1 ruck, 3 fwds (18 total)

Just had a look, currently looks like I would have (in pure numbers and prior to trades):
Week 11 -- 6 backs, 7 mids, 2 rucks, 6 fwds (21 total)
Week 12 -- 3 backs, 7 mids, 1 ruck, 6 fwds (17 total)
Week 13 -- 6 backs, 8 mids, 2 ruck, 3 fwds (19 total)

Was going to post in the trades thread, but I think it's better here. Ranked 10th and looking for advice around a BYE strategy. Team is currently:

Just a few thousand in the bank.

Interested in an assessment of my team and potential trade ideas.

My thoughts are -- backline will be ok once Hodge and Saad are back. Forward line needs the most work.

I think I might trade Hogan + Lonie, or even Miller + Lonie to get my hands on a strong forward in an attempt to bolster my Round 13 BYE players. (understanding that Hogan is a Round 13 BYE player)

I have many trades, and, at this stage, would like to go 0, 3, 3 through the BYE rounds.

Bring in Lewis after his bye should be nicely priced nearly completed my midfield and gives me much needed points for R12. All I have planned thus far

How will your def work for cover if saad misses this week.?

Is there a rookie your keen on for this week

Saad missed last week, I copped McKenzie and KMac.

I'd cop them again if I had to.

And rookie your keen on?

Trying to find a down cash generating option

I've pretty much already got the split i wanted going into the byes with 8/11/11. I did focus it on a bit when selecting my initial team but mostly i just picked who I thought would do best.

Odds are i'll be making a few trades before then anyway.

None that I'm loving mate.

I guess it will depend on the way the team sheets fall.

Open to ideas. If chaos came knocking I'd consider things like bringing Lambert/Glenn in and hoping they come back in a few weeks.

Glenn mite be picked this week
steele gws also a big chance .

So if whitex plays..

Vanders to glenn
oxley out, hodge back, krak to mids
and bring in best fwd you can/want

Relies on glenn and whitex being picked.

Otherwise
vanders to glenn/steele
lonie or hogan to best fwd u can

After copping way more than my fair share of injuries in the first few weeks, and deciding to carry some of those players (Deledio and Wines) rather than burn excessive trades, I am ranked 47K in the land. The top guy in my main league is ranked 5.5K. He has only scored 670 more points than me, and 230 of them were scored this week (he got 2404 to my 2177).

My point is that those saying 'bugger the byes, I'll just write off one week' are underestimating the impact one bad week will have on their ranking IMO. Especially since we are talking about a guaranteed bad week that might turn out to be a shocking week if you have some bad luck to go with your bad structure, and other bad weeks caused simply by bad luck, like the week many of you just had and the one I had the week before.

I have stacked my backs with Round 11 bye players and will only have 4 playing there in Round 11, but should have a full team otherwise for a total of 20. My mids and fwds are balanced between Round 12 and 13 players plus a link. The plan is to have at least 20 play every week. Even though only 18 scores will count, the closer you get to 22 the better because being able to dump poor scores is gold. How much better would your score have been this week if you could have eliminated Lonie's 3 and Salem's 16?

If you are only interested in league glory, it doesn't really matter because the maximum number of games you can win, or lose, each week is one, but if you care about your ranking you need to care about the byes IMO

I love how you're thinking about it.

I'd be really interested in your thoughts and suggestions from the post above. I want to set myself up NOW so that I'm ready for the BYEs.

A McLean or Daniel breaking into the doggies team about now with a round 11 bye would be really helpful right about now to get downgrade Lonie too. Any doggies fans know how these 2 are going? Is Dale a legitimate option? Rookies you bring in now need to be playing over the bye rounds to give you 18 every week

heck spreadsheets. Way too much effort!

Just use the Higginator from Jocks page, thats what I used.

And as long as my next few trade involve RD11 bye players, im set.

I don't have enough round 11 bye players. I need to go into round 11 with a couple more so I don't have to trade prior to 11 and can adjust after as required.

Currently I have 18 or more available for round 11 and 13. Need to re-adjust. Brought in Rocky and Birch this week. Will draw up a plan after this round.
