As I understand it:

Only the best 18 on the field can count towards your score.

The bye players don't "play" until the final game so can be used for loophole purposes.

Correct. Only really comes in to play if you have 7 players in the forward line (as an example) that are all playing

Yes, but you wouldn't be the only person trying it.

I've had mates that have been doing that for ten years. They start at Round 1, generating cash all year to buy all the SP for a Bye round. Creating a team now would give you around 3mill less cash to spend than them, so don't waste your time

One of them came second for the round one year, but haven't won one yet AFAIK.

difficult to answer, I honestly can't remember how the scores have been the last couple of years, over 2000 would be a great score


good thing is you can loophole easily over the byes if you have an extra player playing on a particular line, as the players who have a bye don't get locked out until the end of the round

Being able to loophole easily would generally mean you're structured poorly (or trading heavily).

So, for example, if you've got 7 in your forward line playing in week 1 -- hence, can loophole, then you've got 7 guys that are going to miss in the next two weeks of the Byes. (best case scenario, 3 one week, 4 the next, meaning you are copping donuts in that line, or trading heavily)

As you get the best 18 scores, it's REALLY helpful to have 20+ guys on the field. Lowest scores drop out, loopholing is less important in my opinion.

Going by the bare bones of my arse at this stage, assuming M Clark and D McKenzie return, they make their final appearances for my boys, and that gives me just 18. This is the shit week though, having to play those two, Dumont, Lonie, Brooksby and Nafe Brown.
It should look better over the next couple!

So from 18-20, Most likely 19 with Dmac playing and Glenn missing out.

19 on the field but having to play Tarrant, Lonie, Hogan, McKenzie, Miller, Dumont is a worry.

Round 12 stinks for most for me with Oxley and Adam Saad (DEF), Pendlebury, Hannebery, Fyfe (MID), Swan and Goddard (FWD) all having byes

Round 13 my backs are low in number with McDonald, Shaw, Taylor and Higgins having byes.

Okay so I have paid absolutely no attention towards the byes due to complete ignorance and just thought everything will play out fine. Extremely poor planning that I'm now worried because it could set me back a lot.

Just did some quick maths and I am completely screwed for bye 2. The other 2 I should comfortably be fine.

Players missing
Backs - KK, Saad, Hurley
Mids - Fyfe, Pendles, Kennedy, (D Mckenzie)
Forwards - Goddard, Buddy, Mitchell, (Lonie)

At best I'll have 15 players playing (Including Hamling, Dale and Menadue who may all be dropped).

Advice needed. Should I burn all 3 trades this week to bring in more players who have the bye in R3? Trade out players like Mckenzie and Lonie for cash and then try and upgrade 3 next week?
