Barker pretty much has to go. We tried him as a forwards coach and he was dysfunctional. We moved him into the backline... same result.
Genuinely curious to know what are you basing your assessment on, Dram?
Not a crack at you - a legitimate question.

Senior Coach: Mick Malthouse (STAYS)
Director of Coaching & Development: Robert Wiley (JURY's OUT)
Assistant Coach - Midfield: Dean Laidley (STAYS)
Assistant Coach - Back Line: John Barker (GOES)
Assistant Coach - Forward Line: Brad Green (GOES)
Development Coach: Matthew Capuano (GOES)
Development Coach: Michael Osborne (GOES)
VFL & Development Coach: Luke Webster (JURY's OUT)

Yep agree with this.

Gotta make some changes in the box for 2015

Would love to get JB but guessing he'll stay at the lions in some capacity.
Luke Ball will go more into the players association side of things.
Lappin was at Carlton under Ratten wasn't he?

Would be nice to get some people straight out of the game that have had premiership success..... and not been stuck at cellar dwellers.

Rowe Yazz and others all credit their development to Barker
Our backline was probably our biggest positive this season. Jamison, Rowe & White worked so well together & Yazz, Doc, Sheehan, Buckley (before injury) gave us a lot to get excited about.

Barker may well have found his niche as a defensive coach.

Not to mention, half the reason we got scored heavily against is the lack of pressure up the ground. With the lack of midfield pressure at times, couldn't help but feel sorry for our defenders.

The first half of the season particularly our midfield failed to work hard going the other way. They were much better in the last 6 weeks or so of the season. Given the lack of pressure from the midfield at times, it is a credit to Jamo, Rowe & White that Buddy was the only KPF to really get hold of us this season.

Rowe would gotten most of his instruction and development last year in the VFL thanks to Webster. Yazz would have had some of his development as a defender under Brown. Likewise White. Buckley and Sheehan could potentially be the only ones who has had the majority of their development under Barker. So unless Barker was moonlighting last year as our defensive development coach, he has really only developed 2 players. And Temay, a smallish defender type, has just been delisted along with McInnes.

It could be I'm biased against him because of the balls up he made of our forward line until he was moved into the defensive coaches role... I just don't think he is all that good at helping to develop young players like he is supposed to.

There has been some talk of late that we are looking to beef up our coaching department heading into next season and I'm interested in hearing some thoughts about the way we'll structure up for next year.

Season 2014 saw us with the following coaching structure:

Senior Coach: Mick Malthouse - Keep
Director of Coaching & Development: Robert Wiley - Keep
Assistant Coach - Midfield: Dean Laidley - Keep
Assistant Coach - Back Line: John Barker - Toss of the coin.
Assistant Coach - Forward Line: Brad Green - Keep
Development Coach: Matthew Capuano - Goes
Development Coach: Michael Osborne - Keep
VFL & Development Coach: Luke Webster - Working with a very young VFL team
Who stays? Who goes?

Who would you like to see come to the club and contribute in a coaching capacity?

Our forward line worked fine all year in my opinion with the three talls but our transitional play from down back was horrid at times. On the other hand it was often related to how hard our midfield was working and it never seemed to be a issue when Doc and Yaz were breaking the lines.

The juries out on Wiley? Sheiky been smoking the dromedary dung again.

I think we're all passing judgement from a distance.......................................a long distance.

I don't know what Wiley says to the boys but I know they listen to him with intent and respect.

Forget the age as this guy as energetic as we'll get and the group loves him. Perfect foil for Mick.
