Na I don't buy it. Ok if he had another year on his contract and they cut him - sure, he can be pissed.

But the bloke did something stupid, became a cost and liability to the club, the club supported him and honoured his contract, and surely even blind Freddie could see that it was an extremely long shot to get another year contract. Again - where's his manager in all this? Do they not be honest with their players?

As for not missing a training session... Neither did vadaleur, Ballard etc...
Vandaleur and Ballard haven't been with the club for 10 years, haven't knuckled down and adapted their playing style to suit the club's requirements and are not life members of the club.

As for the drug suspension, I think Crowley deserves to be cut some slack for one mistake instead of being burned at the stake by so many people who otherwise claim to be Freo supporters.

Yes and I'm not certain we got that right either, time will tell, Harley should make a great difference if he stays on the straight.

Not sure where to put this, but, having Macca spend that much time on the field only for him to break down before finals and retire really, really pisses me off. Very short sighted by the club and also did this to him last year.

I'm sure they have their reasons, but, as an outsider it seems ridiculous.

Unfortunately he was just too good to be able to spend large parts of games on the bench. We used Mayne in his place in a few of the games that we had iced but it would've been too risky to do it more often. The biggest mistake in his management was not resting him for the North game at Etihad.

Defenders do much less running during the game than the other players. Therefor are asked to spend more TOG.

Silvagni and Dawson out through injury or suspension for a large portion of the season didn't help.
Stupid, stupid suspensions too.

I'm pretty sure it's normal across the board that defenders spend more time on the ground. Mids need to rest because they're doing so much running, and it's been proven that fatigued forwards kick worse.

This is a big part of the argument against the full ground press. Not only do we have no forward targets to kick to when they are all in the back half of the ground, but when they do get it they are too fatigued to kick straight.

Sam Menegola drafted by Geelong at #66. Happy to see him get another chance at AFL.

That'd be the 1st time he's been taken in the National draft too, wouldn't it. The other 2 times being the rookie draft.
yep, was very surprised to see him go in the National draft. I thought he was homesick at the hawks and left to come home? although its been 4 years so if that was the case he has probably matured and is over that now.

He is on the last chance highway in afl terms. Would be interesting to see him and Bliclavs lining up at centre bounces for the Cats.

I was thinking the other day... It'd also be really interesting to watch those 2 guys go head to head in the 3 K time trials over the summer.
Wonder what role the Cats earmark him for. He took a farewell swipe at Freo for having put him in tagging and negative defensive-type roles compared to Subi "giving me a licence to take the game on and win my own ball". Could say more about the difference between State & AFL I guess...

I thought he was expecting to be rookie drafted by the Saints when we swooped and selected him?

He asked to be delisted, he was homesick and wanted to get to back to WA, no point keeping him on when his heart wasnt in it.
Good luck to the kid, I will follow his development closely.

Just found this on the first page of our player watch Menegola thread but there is no concrete source so I'm not sure, i had just heard this and it stuck in my mind.
