If we get Dixon the Pickering factor would be only thing stopping me from saying Weitering.
we have plenty of defender options now, with Clarke, Andrews, Gardiner, Beasly, maybe Bourke and with the acquisition of Hipwood who may well be an excellent defender too. Schache would be who we take no matter what

Schache is the one who said he "wouldn't mind being drafted to Brisbane"? Maybe we should learn from the impending Aish drama....
Yep, elite forwards are usually taken in the top 10 and there is hype with this kid. Time to learn from our mistakes a take a forward. We keep saying we should have taken McCarthy or Lynch. I reckon in 1-2 years we would be saying the same with Schache if we didn't pick him.

Gardiner, Beasley and Bourke are not key backs.
There is no reason why someone like Beasley cannot take the second forward on most teams, same with Bourke, if i recall he was marking On jezza tom cameron this year, and tom hawkins last year, just because someone is 190 to 193cm doesn't mean they arent a key defender, Weitering is 195 cm, two metres taller than them.
He's also rated the type of defender who would only take a 2nd forward type not the number one forward

Surely we'd take Schache first up. We've loaded up on decent key backs the past few drafts and competent key forwards are few and far between. Especially ones who are keen on coming to Brisbane straight up...

Even more positive than that:

"I think that'd be pretty cool if I ended up at Brisbane. I could go back to where dad was and finish off what he did there," Schache said.

Bourke and Beasley are not key backs in a decent team. Beasley is 191cm and Bourke is very slow and doesn't have much of a leap on him.

Beasley was the only back in the TAC to limit Tom Boyds impact, he seems like a good fighter as a number two defender

regardless of all this, Justin Clarke, harris and Hipwood are good options for backs, we could probably get another prospect alot cheaper than the number 2 pick, for what its worth though if Shache is gone I do think we would take Weitering, leppa apparently was a big fan when he trained with us over the offseason

The deep emotional connection schache has with us is undeniable. Following in your late fathers footsteps is what dreams are made of.
The kid seems to have a great head on his shoulders( and set shot)
Let's make this dream a reality.

never underestimate the use of correct set shot kicking technique. The kid has got it!

Daniher, Cloke , casboult on the other hand???????

Boyd did nominate Gardiner as the hardest defender he had to deal with.

And there was a good reason Beasley was passed over in 2 national drafts.

not really, being overlooked in the draft a couple of times has nothing to do with how a player might turn out,

Tom Rockliff, overlooked in two national drafts, he has turned out alright, someone who had the knock on his game for midfield time and endurance, has managed to make a decent career for himself

Beasley main knock his height, doesn't mean he can turn out to be quite a good defender for us, Scarlett was only 191 cm's too

He plays well on Boyd and McCartin but gets passed over. Says to me 18 recruiters were very confident he wasn't capable playing as a key back and I haven't seen anything since to disprove that.

Schache at pick 1 or 2, Dixon for Aish compo, Keayes for round 2 and 4, Hipwood for round 3 and 5?

Or should we be aiming for a Carlisle/Tarrant?

We have 3 Qlders in the U18 AA team starting lineup.
