Yeah true I forgot about that but still GWS have like 22 first rouunds in the squad, we have 4 which looks like 2 every passing day,

:(
Lol - true.... But if the academy bidding works out the way pundits are suggesting, and provided we match any first round bids for Hipwood and Keays, we could have 3 more first round picks! Glass half full? :0)

plus you can add Beams as a first round pick as we used pick 5 (+extras) on him

haha...yeah the lions were late to the burn a top 10 pick on a ruck man party... ironically of all the ruck man considered as top 10 types only Grundy probably deserve's to be picked in the top 10. Pies got him as a bargain
At this stage yes, but I wouldn't speak of him as a certainty yet. He is slightly undersized which might cap him from being an elite ruck in the comp.

Whilst there's more danger that Witts is a flop, his ceiling his a bit higher than Grundy's imo. As for Mason Cox, well he could be anything as was demonstrated by his 5 goals in a quarter game on the weekend.

I guess the moral of the story is to don't waste top draft picks on rucks when you are just as likely to get good ones late in the draft or off the rookie list.

Or can trade cheaply for them. It was a different time, a simpler time, when the likes of Leuenberger, Kreuzer and Naitanui roamed the draft boards...

I hope we haven't read to much into Schaches comments about playing for us. It would be melt down central if he asks for a trade in a little over 2 years time.

He won't have anything left to achieve with us. The 2017 Coleman and Premiership is as good as it gets.

+1, even though Frawley is a bit overrated he was AA and Melbourne could mount a pretty good argument to get a high pick for him. There is about 0 chance Brisbane are getting a first rounder for leuenberger, he just hasn't done enough.

btw, has he provided any reasons as to why he wants to leave?
What players have or haven't done has absolutely no bearing on the compensation.
It's entirely based on the contract terms of their new deal and their age.

Leueys age is almost identical to frawleys when he left and the contract terms are unknown. By the time that goes through the blender at AFL house who knows what pops out. Could be anything between band 1 and band 4.

I would take Naitanui in the top 10.

That is not correct.

i did quote source as formed in 1883 . established to me means the same. Is that what your disputing? If you are ,I think that is pure semantics. The point I was making, the club had been around for long time and should have been helped far more than what it had. Ask why so many Fitzroy Fans did not to support the Brisbane lions . They hated the way a club with such heritage was dealt with. Simply disillusioned with the powers at be showing an utter disregard of peoples feelings. It was contemptuous. The powers at be failed to understand what football is and how important it is to people. The people, the fans are the game,as simple as that .I did put the full history , but i should have included Paul Roos should have been a dual Brownlow medalist in my opinoin.

PS 1996 was the last year in the AFL, it that helps clarify what i was referring to.Your quote "(VAFA: 2009--> 9 premierships)"

Round 23, deciding the fate of Josh Schache, whose father wore the number 23, to enter the Lions in place of Luey, currently wearing the number 23.

Tis written in the stone mate, we've got him.

It has been 23 years since his dad played with the bears too!

My point was that you suggested that "Fitzroy ceased to exist" in 1996. They did not cease to exist. They continue on to this day, as they started in 1883 - an amateur football club representing the suburb of Fitzroy. Fitzroy exited the AFL competition in 1996 and then joined another competition.

Ok Sorry - Unfortunately that is the date for many loyal supporters ( there are exceptions of course)the music died.I listen to SEN a lot, many gave up following football all together, many went to other clubs like Richmond and North Melbourne. I appreciate Fitzroy joined the other competition ,but for many people i have spoken to, it just ain't the same. Their is immense hatred of the powers that be.Rather than clean up their own back yard and get that right first, the commission embarked upon a national comp with a total disregard of the history that is Fitzroy in the ,( if you want to call it)premier league. It was a slap in the face for those trying to save the club. For some ,they like peters ice cream because you cannot beat the original, for others they get the coles home brand .The taste might be the exactly the same ,but its all about what peoples perception is.(i e because it says Peters ice cream it must be better than coles home brand, simply because of the name )sorry for the metaphor. One of my friends still harbours ill will against the commission,( he takes hate to a whole new level) however he chose to support Brisbane lions after the merger. And just like what they did to Fitzroy and are now doing to Brisbane ,things have not changed ,they are still crucifing us . Look at the Home final Brisbane earned well and truly only to have the commission send us interstate, which i felt cost us the 4th premiership.

Good to see the Fitzroy getting around in a pub league but what does this have to do with a Draft thread?
It's amateurs, it's grassroots football and I recommend it for those who like to see football the way it used to be played. No direct relevance to the draft - just a response to a post suggesting the Roys were dead. Happy for you to ignore it (and me).
