There are a fair few posters who are very excited about Aaron Francis on the Draft and tradings board. He absolutely dominated today apparently and showed his versatility by going forward and slotting goals and also running through the midfield. I've seen a few posters say that he is a top 5 draft prospect if not top 3(Not that that means much). Could be a Fyfe/Stringer type player. Just has that something special.

Francis reminds more of a Goddard type which is nothing to sneeze at. What I take out of it is to wait for the duration of the championships to see who might go where. There will be a lot of movement with those who put there hand up with some consistent performances like Francis and those who have been quiet like Tucker.

Still want Schache though!

Yeah. I remember him playing his first leauge game not that long ago and performing very well. Was entrusted with the kick in duties and played through the middle at times. But he is certainly on Port Adelaides radar. He is pretty versatile as he has continued to show through the champs. I really, really like him as a defender though. His height at 190cm puts him at that awkward height though. If he shows more in the middle, lock him in for top 5.

If we still have our first round pick (assuming pick 3) what are the chances we will reach for a Schache if we pick up Dixon at the very least? We would still have Keays and most likely Hipwood to bring in and I worry that having this many talls is creating an imbalance in the team. There are only s many KPP spots to fill in the senior team and reserves and I guess it will be hard to develop talls out of position.

I think we may be a chance to pick up best available X-factor type or a pure inside ball winner with pick 3 to balance off the list.

Their's a good chance we will be looking at Schache. Don't have many true natural KPF on our list besides Freeman and McStay. Plus I don't think we will have too many talls on our list considering McGuane, Staker, Paine and Maguire will retire or be delisted this season.

Agree with both these parts and this is why I hope we get Schache.

What if we get Dixon and manage to keep out first pick? Dixon, Freeman, McStay and Schache? Also Andrews, Hipwood, Hammelmann as spare parts at this stage? I think there is a point where its just oo many Talls in a team. How can we develop them at reserves level if we have 5 blokes playing for 2 spots?

Lions should avoid Dixon and pick up Schultz as a free agent. Ports salary cap has limited flexibility so he should be the target. Offer Schultz a large front loaded 2 year contract for experience and continue to blood the next generation forward line through what the Lions have and pick 3.

Schulz isn't a FA as he only has six years at Port.

Must draft best available KPF. We should have Keays with our 2nd pick, so we still have midfield talent coming in, and our midfield is fairly well stocked, but we need to sort our forward stocks. Even if we land Dixon, id still draft the best forward we can get. Rare that all your KPF stocks are fit at the same time. Even then, if we drafted a KPF they would still be going strong post dixon.

Worst case if we become flush with tall talent in 3-4 years when they start to really demand a 22 spot we could trade them for good draft picks and keep refreshing the list. We should be towards the top end of the ladder by then.

196 cm - well according to Cal Twomey anyway

Pretty sure I remember him being measured as 196 in January 2014. Think he's grown a bit since.

edit: Either way, it's splitting hairs. He's KPF height and still agile.

could very well be the case - I was just quoting from 2015 draft prospects by Cal T - wouldn't surprise if he is taller now
