I think Conlon could be another Ben Brown. Similar stories I believe.

Ben Brown was a consistent goal kicker in the VFL. Conlon is yet to trouble the scorers in 5 games. Conlon make take longer due to develop due to past injuries, but he has a way to go to even just get on the recruiters radar at this point.

There is a long way to go with which pick we will have but if we were to maintain where we are at then I would be very happy with drafting Schche even if we are to bring in 1,2 or 3 mature KPP's. SOme here have stated about having too many talls on the list but as highlighted by this year injuries are a part of football and we need depth in these areas. Andrews might even end up in the long term being a ruck and so might Hipwood with both being 200cm. The likes of Martin and the Steeplechaser Blickavs from Geelong have shown that modern day ruckman need to be agile and mobile enough to be another midtype.

I think recruiting a quality key forward simply allows us to take the best available player with our first pick. It restores a bit of balance to the list and buys some time. If that best option happens to be a KPF, then great. But I think the absolute imperative to take a tall forward with an early draft pick disappears if we manage to recruit a mature option who is capable of being the number 1 target for the next few years.

Hopefully we can get Parish, Tucker or Schache. All country boys, which Swann mentioned was a bonus as they seem to love Brisbane compared to others who have grown up in City areas.

Or Francis who I assume is from country SA.

I thought every one from SA was from the country?

Little video I found of Francis. Love the way he's not scared to get off his man and attack the ball, great set of hands and already has a decent build.

I just meant in terms of injury history, type of player and pre-injury draft rating.

I'd still be taking Schache. GWS has shown what happens if you have too many good KPFs and some want out - you get rewarded fairly for them, unlike most other circumstances.

To be fair all theirs were pretty well all first round draft picks at the time. Whereas ours were taken at pick 25, 32 and 59. Clubs would be quite happy to pay fair deals for the GWS boys based on their potential alone. Ours would have to show a hell of a lot first for a club to give us what we'd consider a fair deal on them. Because they wouldn't pay for their potential.

If we got Dixon, I'd personally take the best available which in my opinion wouldn't be Schache if we ended up with a top 5 pick.

If we end up with a top three pick and schache is projected to go around pick 8-15, we can trade back with a team like how melbourne got dom tyson and pick 9 for pick 2

I was speaking more of Schache given that was the hypothetical earlier in the thread (what's the point of drafting him if he's just going to be behind players and then leave?). Out of our "stocks", Freeman seems unlikely to leave, McStay is currently best 22 and as much as I love Close, no one's going to be beating his door down. I'd draft Schache and back him in because it's a lot lot harder to get a good KPF than it is any other position and even if we get Dixon, we're still short on KPFs.

Schache is considered a top 5 pick by most of the draft experts so if we have pick 3-5 can't see us not pick Schache just because we just got Dixon

I'm not saying he won't go top, I think he is an excellent prospect. I just think there will be better available. I'm quite happy to stick away from the BigFooty group think. Lot of water to go under the bridge at the moment.

Wylie Buzza at tonight's U/18 jersey presentation. He has a bit of a Ben Brown from
North Melbourne vibe going on there

Is rocky presenting jumpers to all players or just brisbane academy players

He is massive!!! Has to be well over 200cm.

Keays just has the look of a player to me.... Sounds strange but I see it in Players like Black, Hodge, Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Boyd, Brown etc.

Dixon @ FF Close @ CHF and McStay as 3rd tall is the setup id love to have. But if there is a genuine top talent KPF available at our pick i just think we have to go there. As ive said previously, even if you draft one and give them 3-4 years development time before they start really producing, Dixon is around the 30 mark, so the timing is pretty good. McStay and Close in their Prime.

If the likes of Freeman also turn out to be good prospects, then we will profit when one of the talls leaves for more opportunities. Talls hold value better come trade time.

Upon saying that, we have to keep drafting other positions as well. If we lose Aish then id love to get another top mid to replace him at some point. I do feel we need a Wines/Brayshaw type still.

The angle of the shot could make Keays look taller.
Camera shooting up, Rocky standing slightly behind Keays. Hard to get an accurate judgement, but it'd definitely be biased towards Keays because of that.
