So you're telling me there's a chance0.07% chance of making finals - well maybe the season isn't looking that bleak after all
Suns will take Weitering if they get wooden spoon I would think. Thompson, May and Weitering as defenders is pretty hard to pass up. If Dixon goes elsewhere though it may be another matter. Lynch, Wright and Schache is also hard to pass on.
Day won't be there next year IMO, and if we don't get Dixon I could see us having a close look but I don't rate him that highly. Athlete over footballer absolutely clueless.

That's the thing about Scache- how many 200cm KPFs do the suns want?Suns will take Weitering if they get wooden spoon I would think. Is it really that far fetched that Leuey will get offered 600k by another club at the end of the year? Clubs will know he's not a forward and will judge him on how good he has been in the ruck in the past. I think at least 4 clubs will make a play for him which will drive his price up in to that 600k range. If clubs have a need for a ruckman, they will pay him overs, same as we will for Dixon, regardless of his history of injuries. I'd be very surprised if we didn't have 2 picks in the top 5 this year, same as Melbourne did last year when they lost Frawley.
Yes, it really is that far fetched.
I suspect at the moment there would be zero clubs that would make a play for him. A few more games like Saturday's and that might change, but right now I doubt he'd be anyone's first option.
It has been almost three years since he played a good game as the number one ruckman in a team. Clubs will judge him on his 2015 output more than his 2012 output.
We will not get band 1 compensation for him. We are unlikely to get more than band 4 compensation for him.
Whatever weird stuff happened with the Frawley compo, it's not the right precedent to look at. In general, free agency compensation is disappointing for the club who lost the player. We should also expect to be disappointed.
Anyway, let's hope he continues to improve and that we keep him at the end of the year.
I think we'll offer Leuey a new contract based on his current value to us which will reflect the fact that he is no longer our number 1 ruckman and hasn't lived up to his potential. He'll weigh it up against any other interest he gets and decide if he wants to move.

I think this point has gone missing far too often lately.
I'd much rather see one of our loyal servants rediscover form and keep his place in the side than ship him off for what will surely be little compensation.
For sure he hasn't seemed a natural forward, but:
- he tends to do fairly well against tall ruckmen that trouble Stef (Jacobs monstered Stef last year, and IMO was having a much harder time against Leuey at centre bounces)
- in his games against Carlton, Port and now Adelaide, his height has troubled defenders. He has had some down games as well, but its not like there is no upside for him in that role.
I think Weitering would probably suit them pretty well, but I find it hard to imagine any club passing on a KPF with pick 1 if they are reasonably in that conversation. Very good teams can get by without a ball-playing KPD, though it's undoubtedly a great asset to have. Also, if the players were a toss up quality wise, not having to deal with Pickering would be a non-negligible sweetener.
I'm far from a seasoned draft watcher, but at this point I'm pretty confident whoever finishes last takes Schache.
How can he get his form back when he's not playing a position that he was in form in?

I liked it, got a solid level performance out of both of them instead of just having Martin dominating and Leuy doing nothing. Will be a good confidence booster for him. From how we used Luey and Stef on Saturday arvo I would suggest this model will mean we get great value out of both players. Luey to stay on that form!

Also gave Bourke a role at Full Forward, you can only assume when Merrett is back that this would be his role. Cannot see Leppa dropping Andrews, Clarke or Paparone and I am sure Beasley is keeping the spot warm until Gardiner is fit for senior actionI liked it, got a solid level performance out of both of them instead of just having Martin dominating and Leuy doing nothing. A lot of people are jumping on the Schache bandwagon and he has been undeniably impressive. My big concern from having watched him a bit now is that he has a complete inability to get separation. Every mark he takes in a leading sense he has someone hanging on him. AFL level defenders will eat that up.
I do think he is the player who suits our needs the best. I do not think other teams with needs not so great as ours pass up the likes of Weitering and Francis to take him.
Yeah can't help but think this is more the issue. Even mid-paced forwards can get separation if they lead in the right patterns. I know he runs a good beep test but it will be interesting to see how he tests in the 20m sprint.Dont need to be the quickest to get separation. Boy seems to have a decent tank, if he can learn some good running patterns along with good forward instincts and marking ability he should turn out fine.
