Wasn't actually a lot of direct double teaming going on. Collins and Weitering both kept rotating off him. Kicked his only goal for the match after a strong mark against Collins IIRC.

Pretty woeful delivery, but what really stood out to me in Schache's game that day was his never give up attitude. Didn't give up all day and kept working hard both offensively and defensively, which was great to see. As previously said, not a day for Forwards and the delivery by his teammates was embarrassing to be blunt. He'd get space but they were kicking it over his head all day and they just made it easier for the opposition defenders in Weitering and Collins.
Good to hear. I have read multiple sources say his work rate is below par, especially defensively, and it is good to know that he worked hard against WEitering and Collins.

Jackess is just doing what he does. Dragging everything down.

Hey I'm the only one that thinks we'll win the next 2 fairly comfortably but in the days of Schache apparently that's being a Debby Downer.

I just don't get as excited about 17 year olds as much as most people do on BigFooty.

Also, I think our team can take the next step without any additions to our current KPF stocks.

Geez, he really is going to feel right at home in Brisbane.

Schache also had a spell in the ruck and Weitering up forward.
Collins is an interesting one. Is more a nullifying defender from what I have seen. But a very mature body. For those who haven't seen him this is a pic from a school match on Saturday last (the one on the right) -

Yeah, spends a bit of time in the ruck most games.

Collins is certainly more of a nullifying type and built like a 24 year old. They've wanted him to try and improve hiss rebound game, which he has slowly made some progress on this year.

Big fan of Collins from what i saw during the champs.

Trading of Future picks allowed - details to be announced.

Hopefully just got a lot easier to get both Keays and Hipwood without wiping out our remaining draft picks. We swap our 2016 3rd round pick with another club for their 2015 3rd round pick and that additional pick should be enough to match two reasonably high bids without going in to deficit and still maintaining late picks for the likes of William, Wagner, Chol etc.

Should be a win win trade. We get a pick this year to get us additional points, other club gets a pick in a supposedly stronger draft next year.

This is very true and worth remembering. Collins and Weitering are probably the best two KPDs available this year. Collins the Mal Michael type who will stick to his man and make life difficult whilst Weitering is the Leppa who can play on his man but often floats around and is given more licence to impact the play. I did not see this game but having seen them play together before I would have expected a fair bit of double teaming to be going on.

Is the role referenced for Weitering the same one Andrews is currently doing for us?

One thing that is interesting about trading future picks is it opens up a lot of possibilities for trading picks that might never be used anyway.

eg. Sydney didn't use pick 57 in last years draft... If they knew that they weren't using it during the trade period they could have traded that pick for a 3rd/4th round pick next year and at least maintained the option of having a live pick the following year.

in the 2013 draft picks 48 and 53 were unitilised and picks 54 and 59 were rookie upgrades that just happened with the last active pick of a club. so potentially 4 picks available that year with decent points value for a club like us with academy (or F/S) prospects.

before 2013 looks like about pick 72 was the first unused pick.

If a player attracts a bid in the third round and is then chosen by the club with first access to the academy or father-son prospect later that round, the club has to find points the following year to pay for that player.

Under the slightly revised system the club will be able to recover those points from its third round selection rather than the first round allocation as was originally planned.

Still blows me away with the new system that depending where you finish and where a team bids for a player it more or less wipes out your draft choices for that year bar the one highly rated junior as in the Heeney example that they use. All the more reason that whilst we are lower down the table to be able to make every post a winner with our prospective academy players especially this year in Keays and Hipwood and next year with Allison.

I like it. We can't have Sydney drafting too many Heeney's.

Just thinking- is pick one actually that important? I wouldn't rule out GC taking Francis and Carlton taking Weitering.

If Dixon goes, they would find it very, very hard to pass up Schache.

If we finish with pick 2 we would be ok in all likelihood. Apparently Blues are set on Weitering leaving Schache to pick 2. If Suns lose Dixon they would probably be very interested in Schache

I think Francis would be a really good fit for the Suns. They don't have many of those medium types but if they lose Dixon they could take Schache unless they rate Wright ahead of him.

Seriously wishful thinking on my part I know but I'm still hoping if Leuey goes that the AFL Commission gives us an overly generous compo pick ala Frawley. If we finish with pick 2 (IMO what we will have) we could then get pick 3 and get Francis too.

Schache, Francis, Keays and Hipwood would be an outstanding draft. Just need to AFL to continue the precedent they set last year with ridiculous compo picks!

Depends whether the Dixon talk is "I want a bigger contract" or not. With more clubs being talked up as possible destinations, I wouldn't rule it out.
3x 200cm types doesn't really add up to a functional forward line either.

They're ok for genuine talls with Thompson and May + Leslie/Schade/Day. They only lack players who read the ball well in the air and can float across to help out/intercept mark. McKenzie can do that to an extent, but he seems to be on the outer. Francis would give them a lot more stability in the back 6 if reports are accurate.
