So carltank get pick 1 and possibly our pick 2 as a possible compo pick for Cruiser and we get compensated for Leuy and possible other players leaving, that might give us a pick 4 compo pick ( not f...g likely) as well as the downgraded pick 3.Just listening to that idiot Mark Fine, congratulating Carlton on nabbing pick 1 and likely pick 2. Given we just did ourselves out of pick 1 (and likely pick 2... assuming Carlton get pick 2 for Kreuzer), it makes me feel sick that Brisbane give up so much by winning the last game of the season. I'm not at all suggesting we should have tanked it... more that rewarding losing with the best picks in the draft is flawed.
i'd be in favor of the bottom 4-6 clubs going into a lottery for the first 4-6 picks. Alternately, the compensation for FA needs to change. I would be putting and band-1 compensation after pick 10. the first 10 picks (for clubs who missed the top-8) shouldn't be altered.
That's true, but then they had been playing him at CHF all season for no practical reason.Yeah, Melbourne were saying the same thing about Frawley, but I'm certain they were licking their lips at the idea of pick 3.
Theatre.
Still glad we won, none the less.So carltank get pick 1 and possibly our pick 2 as a possible compo pick for Cruiser and we get compensated for Leuy and possible other players leaving, that might give us a pick 4 compo pick ( not f...g likely) as well as the downgraded pick 3.
Gee that sounds pretty sound to me, what a f...n joke.
pretty sure if we were the Gold Coast we would be screaming blue murder ,they finished with 4 wins as well.
So instead of pick 3 they could be receiving pick 5.
Compo picks starting after pick 10 sounds about right, sliding down depending on the severity of the departures .
.
Before the first roundwhere would a PP be if we got one.. after our first pick?

We have options though. We can trade Aish + pick 3 to Carlton for Bell and pick 2. Not a big deal. The reason why Schache will be a gun is because he's an elite set shot at goal, good overhead, good endurance and Kevin "shifter" Sheenan said that he hasn't seen a key forward dominate the championships, in all he's time as a AFL talent manger (He stated it in the highlight video on youtube) as Schache has.
Carlton will essentially decide our pick between the two anyway. Unless we really rate Francis? What will be interesting if we do, is if Carlton do take shache at 1, is it a given we take weitering ?I have no inside information but I'd be surprised of the Club saw the choice between Schache and Weitering in quite such emphatic terms as some here are suggesting. Indications are that they were very impressed with Weitering when he spent some time up there recently and that they view him as a ready made AFL player. They could well see him as a Merrett replacement and somebody we can build our next premiership defence around. More so than any of the young defenders currently on our list.

True. I was talking more in terms of the widely held view that we would certainly have taken Schache if we had pick 1.Carlton will essentially decide our pick between the two anyway. And it's interesting that Schache has been generally less impressive at the TAC Cup level when the delivery to him has been not quite so good.Isn't that what Freeman is already?
AFL can neutralise this by giving Carlton an end of first rounder. Have they got the balls?
1000/1 that they do this.
A bit would have to do with the club he ends up at. For example, if he heads off to Fremantle instead of Collingwood; the Pies (Eddie) could hark up and demand that any compo shouldn't impact on his club etc. in terms of both the draft and any attempt to land Treloar.
A bit to play out, but I'd be expecting for us to have our first pick in the draft at #3.
