Nope. Never been this relaxed about a draft. Schache, Keays and Hipwood just seem like such perfect choices for us.

Very confident we will look back on this draft as a really big one for us.

Yep pretty happy how it looks to be going, pretty solid offseason.

After watching the first quarter of the Allies vs u/17, would like to see Chol on our list too. With his and Hipwoods upside, could be a huge draft for us

I've read we can match up to pick 9. What if, for example, one gets bid on with 6, 7 or 8? Could we match? Worst comes to worst we go into debt for next year and worry about Allison later?

10 - 18 is their range me thinks...

For Hippy:
Bulldogs 10
Richmond 11

For Keays:
Anywhere from Adelaide at 13 onwards

We can always go into debt, as long as it's not more than the value of our picks next year once we've won the grand final.

They're not going to go that high though. I don't follow the pre-draft form guide, I just go off the media reports and phantom drafts. Weitering, Schache will go 1,2. Mills, Hopper, Kennedy are all academy selections that are higher on the phantom draft lists than our boys. So that's at least 5 picks down. You can then add Parish and Francis to the list of next best available picks, so 7 picks down. Throw in a couple of other's for specific needs or just better expectations and you see how worst estimate is Hipwood at 9.

Agreed. I'd love for us to get Chol as well and think we probably will. I'd also like to see us getting Wagner and William, but that seems less likely. Too few spots if a deal is made for Bastinac or Whitecross. Sucks, but we can't have it all! Think it has/will be a pretty successful draft/trade period for us regardless. Feeling positive about next year!

I've been told by someone who knows him well that he has had meetings with North and Sydney (Chol)

Both have Sudanese boys already on their lists ...so not surprised ...if true.

Any chance that we are over-rating some of these academy kids (Buzza, Wagner, William, Chol) and one or two (or more) may slip right through to our very late picks and/or rookie draft?

We may get to have our cake (Schache, Hipwood, Keays + trading in Bastinac) and eat it too (manage to still snag one or more of our other academy kids with very late picks/rookie draft)!

There won't be room on the Senior list .... will have to be as Rookies ... and not a lot of room there ... unless there are some further changes/delistings.

It's not unlikely be any means. I'd be more surprised if all six get picked up in the ND based off recent years. I'd tip four at most, but which four?

We haven't Nominated Buzza so pretty safe to say that we won't pick him up. Wagner will go to the rookie draft.
William will be picked up anywhere from 35 onwards &
Chol will go late national draft or rookie

And then the question remains do WE rate them high enough to throw list spots at them if they are still hanging around at the end of the ND/rookie draft

Not at all, the club knows what it's doing. If we don't take Schache at pick 2 I will run naked through the Holden centre singing our club song with **** you Eddie written in pink lipstick across my butt cheeks.

I am hoping there is not a full mooning that night

If they are bid 56 onwards thn we can match with our last bid. Given there are potentially a few father sons, at least 5/6 academy picks, and a number of clubs likely to take in limited live picks and pick 56 might be the 40th 'live pick'

He also had some high test results at the draft camp, not sure if we will have enough points unless he slips down a fair way.

Would it be considered draft tampering if:
  • we delisted, with the intent to re-rookie, enough players to keep all draft picks and the points we might need, up to the last pick with value.
  • Then recontract the players delisted at something like their previous salary.
The point being that we can use all the points we have accumulated

No problem with this at all.

Some differing examples:

1. Steve Alessio (Essendon 2000 premiership ruckman in 2002 was delisted at season's end then re-drafted at pick 67 in the 2002 National Draft.

2. Anthony Corrie, with a year of his contract to run in 2006, was delisted from the senior list, then re-drafted at pick 4 in the 2006 Rookie Draft - this was done as he was recovering from serious knee injury.

3. Kieran King who we drafted in 2008, was delisted after a single season (not even re-drafted as a rookie, presumably paid out on the rest of his contract) due to serious ankle injury.

Hipwood and Keays are given. Chol I'd expect a bid mid-draft based on his athletic potential, and William a late chance. Wagner seems a good rookie chance for us, and Weller probably misses out.

Banfield was treated much the same, until Richmond sniped in a few years back.

I get the feeling that one of Keays or Hipwood will slip further then most expect, which will be a good thing for us.

Hipwood is interesting because id rate Collins ahead of him as a defender, and Probably a few other as better forward prospects, his versatility is hard to gauge thou. Keays is much the same, very well rounded player but no stand out attribute to push that Real high bid.

Chol and William on the other hand have some real traffic attributes, but not as well rounded. I think it might be a case of us overstating Hipwood/Keays and posibly understanding others (Chol in particular) a little.

I think people have been talking of worst case scenarios in regards to Hipwood/Keays. Callum Twomey has them as pick 13/14 in his Phantom form guide, which I think we'd generally be very happy about (http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-18/phantom-form-guide-update). That said, pick 9 +13 or pick 13 +14 isn't really going to be a huge difference either way - 200 points difference won't make or break our draft.

That's my gut feel based purely off hype but I really didn't want to pretend I was any kind of expert on them. Haven't even seen them play.

The more I see of Hipwood the more I reckon he probably has the most upside of any player in the draft. I reckon we are about to get something very special in Eric, he has Riewoldt/Franklin potential.
All of Hipwood, Keays & Allison could be anything.

Exciting times ahead, trading in players that want to be here and drafting local talent.

Greg Swann and Schwab are turning this club around.

Yeah I'm in much of the same boat. Realistically I see hipwood being first looked at he Adelaide at pick 13, and then definitely Hawthorn at 15 given they've lost Hale and lake and Gibson isn't getting any younger. As for keays looking at who will have the picks Carlton at 20 seems a likely bid for him. Maybe the hawks at 18

What happens if neither of them are bid on before our first pick 17? Do we still take them or does it allow us to get another good player at 17 and then add keyes and hipwood later ? Highly unlikely but thought id ask
