Schache is a big kid who has used his physical advantage very well against smaller and weaker opponents. He is a good goal kicker and has done very well this year. I certainly pick him but he is one of the biggest bust risks to come through in the last few years. He is slow (has not run under 3.2 in any test that he has done) and has very small hands (not the end of the world but a bit of a concern for a forward) measuring in at only 20.5cm at the Combine.

Weitering has a much higher floor and as high a ceiling, albeit in a lower value position. We do not need Weitering but if we ended up with him I would not be complaining. The risk is a hell of a lot less.

I'd be more inclined to look at his 30m repeat sprints and the beep test from previous testing :thumbsu:

'Shifter' sees him as the most natural forward to come out of the draft for a long time; I'd rather he know where to run and how to lose his defender than burn him on a lead. In any case, can't remember too many of the current star forwards getting under 3 sec.

Buddy perhaps a decade ago.

Yep, and if you can read the flight of the ball 0.3 of a second faster than your opponent, then you're technically running a sub 3 second anyway in real terms.

I would think there would be a fair bit of expertise around Vic Country, but going to a AFL level club with strength and conditioning should definitely be another step. So hopefully a) we get him and b) he does take a big leap forward.

I thought it was interesting that even Brownie as strong as he was had a very weak core, I know he did a lot of specific training on his core strength.

If he grew relatively recently it takes a couple of years for strength to catch up to frame, which bodes well for Hipwood he grew late but still tested well in power.
I was watching a highlights video of the game he kicked a bag against SA in the other day- the commentators mentioned that he'd probably only be able to get to training once a week.

It's a shame Joe Daniher didn't do any of the physical testing at the combine in 2012. I'm guessing he'd probably be the closest physical analog to Schache in the last 10 years. I can't imagine Joey breaking 3s.

Comparing vertical leap would be interesting as well given it's probably Daniher's strength.

There was talk at the time that Daniher was quick for his size. Watching him play, I reckon his speed is improving as he's getting a bit more strength and endurance.

From a club email.

Bewick re-signed. ZoB delisted and Paine delisted to be redrafted onto the rookie list.

Looks like we'll have 5 senior list spots going into the draft

ZoB getting delisted is a shame because he tries incredibly hard and kills it in the ressies. But to be honest, I couldnt see him getting promoted off the rookie list after his three years were

He was given ample opportunity but couldnt quite cement a spot at AFL level despite his best efforts - no shame in that.

I wish him the very best for his post footy career.

Yeah not AFL Standard. Tries his guts out will give him that. Bewick keeps getting 1 year extensions - this might be his last unless things change dramatically.

Yeah, I think so too. with the young boys coming through you would think he would have a great year or be delisted in 2016.

ZOB might go to the next level as someone like Anthony Miles has done (noting that O'Brien is a year older) if he gets the chance in another system. However, Miles is the exception rather than the rule and more often, guys like ZOB have a ceiling which is just below AFL level.

add his run in with the head coach and his days were always numbered

I'd have probably given Bewick the heave-ho too FWIW. Not sure his senior form has been much more impressive over the last 2 years.
Five spots. The movements suggest Whitecross is a likely recruit, which leaves four spots. I'm guessing it just means we rate Bewick above three (or maybe two, without Whitecross) out of the four of Chol/William/Wagner/Weller.

Good way of looking at it.

I'd take Whitecross over Bewick/O'Brien all day. If we needed to delist someone to make space for him, then it is a good call. Paine is probably lucky to be on the list at all but, equally, he has had a rough trot since he got up here. Keeping someone on a rookie list is hardly a list defining decision.
