I have been his biggest fan all year but who's to say in 2 years time if North come knocking he won't leave they are going to need to restock their forward line by then just sick of losing players I guess so I'm a little disappointed to hear he wasn't a Lions supporter.

I think you'll be surprised at how many players on our list supported other teams when they were juniors. It's a non-factor IMO and you're freaking out for no reason.

This is the only one of these things I've ever seen that suggests Keays is two sided. The most consistent knock that I've seen on him is that he never, ever uses his right boot.

Left footers are usually smart enough to make the most of this anomaly...

Unless you're Mitch Golby

If we drafted only Lions fans we would have access to about 5% of the talent pool.

The team a kid barracks for very quickly becomes irrelevant once in the AFL system. I doubt a player has ever left a club and joined another solely because that was their childhood side.

Well Oliver is a Lions supporter so I guess we will pick him at 2?
Actually what ever happened to theteamtobeat ? I thought he would be loving this time of year... straight after trade period and straight into making a best 22 for next year adding every possible combination of potential draftees we could take into his roster. Loved his work.

Schache has interviewed very well with us. If he left after just two or three years then something is very wrong with the club. He is seemingly one of the most mature for age kids I've had the pleasure of talking to on numerous occasions and still continue to do so. Still chat to him a lot now. Both parties cannot be more confident he will end up with us. Well spoken, great manners and is someone you'd love to have around the club. Comes off a tad shy at first but warms to people really well once he feels comfortable.

Weitering looks like he enjoys the smell of his own farts.

Right at home at Carlton, then.

Chicken Little.

Maybe I have just had enough of being a supporter of the laughing stock of the AFL but I guess that's just me

I can understand being apprehensive but there's a few things with the Schache situation that work in our favor.

1) Craig and Mel are back
2) It's not like he's a slider who is surprised to end up with us -- it's been apparent we'll take him for a long time. I'm sure he's long adjusted to the idea.
3) The romance of playing for the club his late father played for
4) By all reports he seems like a mature and grounded guy

I wouldn't worry and personally I'm just chuffed that we're actually going to get him. As long as we're patient with his development I see him being a very valuable component of the Lions for years to come.

I always have worn Nike but if Adidas came along with some $ , security and a contract in a career I have always wanted I think I would forget about Nike pretty quickly.

I can guarantee one of the quickest ways to being the laughing stock of the AFL would be to draft players based on the club they supported prior to being drafted.

How the hell can you guarantee that?
Because it would be even worse than Melbourne's recent drafting 'methods'.

I just do not understand the obsession with drafting players because they support your club. 90% of the time numerous supporter bases attempt to claim a player anyway. Who cares?

great write up there. they say his only weakness is maybe 1 on 1 marking, i like the fact that at the moment he gets his marks/goals in different ways, not just out muscling smaller under age opponents. he can work on that in the afl system. i think in the video it was brenton sanderson who said, plays like travis cloke but is a better set shot than him, just goes back and drains them every time. we want josh carlton can have jacob, i don't think winning that last game v dogs is going to be the disaster some people said it was going to be.

Surprisingly of late all his 'deficiencies' have been highlighted. I think that people have to understand that there are a number of positives to be looked at. Over two/three seasons in the gym he is going to start to add more size and add this to his 'strengths' he will become a very good forward for the club. I don't see him in isolation as a player but what he will add as a part of our future going forward which I find very positive. Our future with our spine and KPP's is quite exciting and patience will be required. Today's forwards don't kick 8/9/10 goals a game and his ability to kick goals more than not will be a bonus.

yes agree. also states in bio that he is the best key forward set shot to come through in a while. hopefully only needs a few chances at a set shot to kick his goals.

I think this is a good post, and that the bolded is an important point. 3 goals per game is a 70 goal season, which puts you second in the league last year.

Schache looks like a dependable kick, which is rare amongst the better young key forwards in the league. As long as he's physically up to it (which he looks to be) and has reasonable forward instincts (which he looks to have), he should get at least three or four shots a game just due to his size and endurance. Those things being the case, I like his chances of being a reliable two goals per game at worst, and if he gets on top of teams in maybe five games per season, you're talking about a 50-60 goal forward.
