interesting over on the main board. champion data rankings for the draft have schache at 3 behind hopper and mills but in front of weitering at 4. also rate keays at 7 and hipwood at 10. 3 top 10 rated players in the one draft, wouldn't of happened too often over the years except for the expansion sides of course. lets hope their not bid on this high.

I like a lot of the champion data material they use but the ratings they use for the draft are the biggest load of bollocks that you will see at this time of year. They are supposedly statistical based but are in fact guesses dressed up as something they are not.

Another thing, how can they rate the NSW guys so high when they lost out at U18 2nd Div and play NEAFL/substandard leagues?

Exactly. This is why the current system just got scrapped. It will be cool to see an allies team next year in the main draw of the national champs. Would've been interesting to see how Hopper, Keays etc would've gone against Vic Country this year.

How did Mills get that ranking when he has barely played over a year and a half?

Mills is so good he can get better at AFL sitting on his arse watching Game of Thrones. All the other players in the draft were chumps for playing this year as they would have been rated more highly if they didn't play a single game.

So does this mean that a I am a fantastic football player??????!!!!

AFL draft 2015: Brisbane aware of motivation in further academy bidding system loophole
http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl...-system-loophole/story-e6frf3e3-1227607887850

BRISBANE is aware of another loophole in the AFL’s new draft bidding system which could deliver the club its academy players at a cheaper price.

But the Lions are unlikely to use a ‘false bidding’ tactic that would bring forward their stockpile of picks, potentially generating a bonus 178 points on draft night.

If the Lions bid pick No. 2 on one of Greater Western Sydney’s academy guns Jacob Hopper or Matthew Kennedy, the Giants would almost certainly match the bid and cash in picks 10 and 34 to secure the player.

2 very important rules in life. You aren't supposed to date a friends ex and you aren't supposed to bid on fellow academy clubs players :)

On a completely different note I am wondering something about Hipwood. He seems like he has the potential to be a gun but currently he is 82kg which is very slight for his 202cm frame. I am guessing he won't be playing much in the seniors until he puts on at least 10kg?

Also I am guessing that both Keays and Schache will both be getting a reasonable amount of playing time in the 2016 season even if Schache in particular is not quite ready (and no I am not asking about this because of supercoach or anything like that, just genuinely curious).

It'd only be worth doing if we thought Hopper wouldn't otherwise attract a bid in the top few picks.

And then you'd be running the risk of GWS not matching the bid.

So not really a loophole.

Also:

Lions list gurus have identified the tactic

I doubt we can afford more than one list guru. Maybe the writer meant 'Lions list dilettantes'.

That is about as high as I have seen Hipwood rated by anyone.

Also the lowest I have seen Keays ranked for a while.

Either way, I just want them and Schache and we are good to go. Wouldn't say no to William or Chol if we can also pick them up.

She seems to really love Hipwood and has never been big on Keays. Everyone has their own opinion though. I personally think Twomey's assessments on the two of them is more accurate. I think she tends to overrate Hopper somewhat slightly too

1. Journalist cottons on to fact that this could be done
2. Journalist rings Lions to ask if they knew about said tactic.
3. Lions say, yes we understand it could happen this way, but aren't going to do that
4. Journalist writes story trumpeting that "Brisbane are aware" there are loopholes
5. Journalist includes opinion from Victorian club official adding to the narrative that the new academy rules are a rort.

What a non-story. It really is slow in AFL media circles.

1. Journalist cottons on to Collingwood administrator alerts journalists to the unfair fact that this could be done
2. Only one journalist gives a shit & rings Lions to ask if they knew about said tactic.

Quigley coming out with a Phantom Draft this year mate? The Draft and Trading board needs it. Only 3 or so genuine ones up there.

I've got one ready to go, but I think I'll avoid putting it up on BigFooty this year. Happy to answer questions/post some player profiles if anyone would like more information about a certain player.

What do you think of Curnow? I was surprised to see him being talked up as a potential top 3 pick recently based on what I've read about him to date.

this makes no sense anyway, and shows the author doesn't understand the bidding process. GWS hold 10 & 34 inside our picks at 38-42. If GWS match bids for 2 players, then effectively their picks 10 & 34 will be consumed, but GWS slot in at the point of the draft where they match the bids. so you could say pick 10 & 34 slide up... but our picks at 38-42 don't move.
We'll get the bonus from Sydney matching for Mills, Sydney hold 3 picks inside our 38-42... so they take one spot for mills, the other 2 picks will drop out. Our picks move up 2 spaces to 36-40, and we get a 178 point gain.

Aidyn Johnson? I really hope bids on Hipwood and Keays are later so we can keep a pick in the late 30s early 40s but i suspect he will be gone by then... is a classic Lions pick though.

Aidyn Johnson will surprise a few I think. Very talented. Injuries have been the main problem for him. Hard to gain consistency when your injured. Does panic under pressure a bit with his disposals but that can be ironed out pretty quickly in an AFL environment. I'm thinking anywhere from 20 - 35 is where he'll be picked up.

I'll pm you a player profile later tonight. Yeah I was pretty surprised at the top 3 talk myself, I think anywhere from 6-11 is where he will be selected.

Yeah pretty close to finished. I went on holidays for 5 weeks in Sept - Oct which has put me behind a bit. I had planned to have it up yesterday but SWMBO wrote off the weekend with social events and I did not get the remaining profiles done. Atm hoping to have it up Thurs or Friday.

I am doing rankings this year rather than even trying to have a crack at where players are going to go.

I currently have Curnow at 21 from memory. He is an okay player but I just do not see the reasons for justify him being taken in the top 5. He is undersized for a forward and there are a lot of guys who have actually proved they can play in the midfield. Still I would love Essendon to pick him :)

Would like to hear you thoughts on William and Chol, as they seem likely to be taken with our later picks.

Also Marcus Adams, Understand he's a mature ager and you mightn't have seen that much of him thou.

Cheers
