Really positive for us that Academy kids are getting drafted to other clubs, will help keep McGuire and the dogs at bay. He can't exactly say they aren't producing players for the whole league now.

Wow, big rookie draft for the Brisbane zone.

Wagner, Chol, Hunter, Uebergang, William, and Josh Smith.

It'll be interesting to see how these guys progress now they're in the system.

Nah they don't care about guys going lower down, all Eddie and the like want to stop is access to guys in the first round or two.

Really glad we got William. We don't seem to draft a lot of those X Factor types. Plus he's clearly got excellent character.

What a great draft all round.... bloody excited.

I reckon the reason why we see more rookies is simple, they're from QLD and we aren't as well reckonized as other states yet.

Interesting to see Sydney take two rookie zone selections of guys that weren't in their academy. I don't think any northern club has taken a zone selection since the introduction of the academies.

great stuff. excited by the future of william and disappointed not to get chol, would of preferred him over paine but nothing could be done there (contracted). might be having a brain fade but who is smith, never heard of him?

Wagner and Smith were academy boys who went through the same time as Conway. Both have been playing locally.

It's a great year for Qld players in general when you consider only 3 WA players went in the national draft.

I'm pretty sure next year it will be much better though. I know my local team Swan Districts have some good kids, plus the like of Petrovksi-Seton coming through

He was surprised the likes of Greg Clarke missed out ( I don't know anything about him so can't comment)
He also recons next year will be better for WA.
Still, pretty poor for this year.
