Marcus Adams is one guy that doesn't get talked about much on bigfooty, yet I've seen his name pop up in the odd phantom draft. Anyone seen him play?

He's listed at 193cm, 98kg.

Article below talks him up as a possible first round selection, might be one to look out for.

I've seen him mentioned around the place too but it seems not many have actually seen him play; I can't find much about his game. All I really know is that he started the year up forward and was reasonably solid, then moved down back and was very, very good. Certainly a player I'd be interested to learn more about.

Would you use pick 30 on a needs basis and grab him?

Particularly if we can't get the KPP's we need with our first 2.

I wouldn't be overly against using pick 30 and 51 on a needs basis on those mature key defenders if we can't get anything we like with our first 2.

Adams might be worth a pick as high as our picks 20/21, I've seen him go that high on one phantom draft and that article talks him up as a possible first round selection. Harry Taylor came out of nowhere as a mature aged WAFL player, he wasn't expected to go high in the draft. Perhaps Adams could be a similar story, I don't know.

If we can't get a KPP with our first two, I believe we should go for talls with our next two regardless. We need to take at least two talls in this draft IMO.

Adams from what I've heard ran one of the quickest 20m sprints at the WA state combine can't find the exact time though. Tom Keough isn't talked about much on BF either but has been very good in the SANFL as a 194cm, 91kg defender who plays tall and small.

I feel there will be a few surprising selections made this year.

Do you think we could function with a zone defense with a 3 x 194-195cm players?
Beginning to think that this could be the plan. Possibly it's the back up plan, because we can't convince any A Grade KPD to come to us.

RE: Bonner
'He didn't test at the NAB AFL Draft Combine as he nursed a foot injury in a moon boot, but that won't be a concern'

I'd be surprised if that is true, for example.. If he has improved his endurance, etc & has the fitness to be able to play sooner rather than later
you'd think that it would mean that he has a better chance of going higher in the draft

Won't be a concern as in it won't hurt him. Recruiters already have a fair idea of how he'd test so his standing on rankings isn't going to drop by missing the combine. Being available could've helped him, but it won't hurt him that he wasn't.

The injury might drop him down the order a bit.

I understand
yeah, they have past results to go back on
but it could have been handy if they had those past results to compare to new results
to see what areas that he has improved & which areas that he hasn't & possibly can't improve any further

I'd be surprised. Minor contact injury having played for most of the year; it hasn't hampered his game time and it doesn't sound significant enough to make recruiters nervous about the impact it'll have on him. I don't think it'd push him down on rankings.

Did he write anything up about why those players, at those picks?
Just a write-up of picks 24 & 25

24. Western Bulldogs - Darcy Tucker

Tucker suits the Bulldogs' style perfectly with his hard running off half back. Seen as a top 5 chance at the start of the season and is as professional as they come.

25. Western Bulldogs - Braden Fiorini

Smooth left footer who has been a big possession winner this year as a wingman and drifting inside. Harley Balic is another that could be considered here.

Balic sliding big time. Can understand with not picking Burton, he is too similar to Stringer and Crameri.

First two picks make sense.

Fiorini is really good in transition play so he'd fit into our game plan easily, he's the sort of mid I'd like for us to pick this year. Very versatile and a leader too.

Tucker is a good footballer and runs hard which as I said above is important more of a HBF though.

Edit: oh and Fiorini is also as tough as nails.

Dees taking Collins over Francis surely would have to be a huge f up. It is the Dees, so I guess it wouldn't surprise.

I wonder how much of his picks are based off of information & which he feels just suit the clubs needs

if Francis fell to our original pick i'd be a really farking irate Zgope1
Ditto,
I'd be annoyed if no talls were available & we then took Dunkley

who in the last game that I saw him in, was shanking the hell out of the ball..

I'd prefer Glass-McCasker at that pick.

Anderson almost doesn't bother with the dogs these day. I hassle him on twitter and the bloke just can't get info out of us. Last time i remember he got onto something about us was the Bont info about a week and a half before the draft. He's a good journo but has really struggled with us lately. I hate to say it but Sam Mclure's got the know on us more than him
