Alex Keath not offered a contract with Victoria. Seems he could be classed as free shot Category B rookie.

CATEGORY B, either:

• has not registered in an Australian Football competition for three years immediately before inclusion on the Rookie List;
• is an international player, meaning he is not an Australian citizen and has not lived in Australia for a substantial period;
• is a former NSW Scholarship player with that club;
• is a former International Scholarship player with that club;
• is a rookie Zone Selection for clubs based in NSW or Queensland.

Perhaps weirdly it also seems that Michael Hartley could still be listed as a category B rookie for us.

Keath would be Intresting as in his Draft Year he was 1 of the Top Prospects but Missing So Much Footy would make it no Gurantee.

But as Cat B Player it would not hurt. The Bombers did that with John Rayner

Funnily enough Eddie was talking about him on MMM this morning. Quoted as saying that "Clubs have definitely not forgotten about him" and that he can pretty much nominate the club of his choice. Mmmmm. Me thinks we will be all over him. Mature body who could walk straight in; KP height too. Yes please.

He would not walk straight in, he would need to change his body composition first

Certainly not worried either way whether he comes to Collingwood or not. I can see that he'd need a lot of work to get back to AFL level of playing football and his mentioned lack of pace is a worry in todays game for me.

I'm worried about reading a lack of depth in this years draft so I'll be looking forward to hearing Knightmare thoughts on this later in the year. To me, looking at our current position and if there is a perceived lack of draft depth than I really hope we are aggressive with our trading and free agency this year.

His lack of pace was in reference to his bowling speed, not running.

There Academy Kids are the Top 2 Prospects.

Should cost them more then just there 1st Round Pick

As with F/S picks though these kids can opt to go into the draft rather than play for their academy aligned team. Murphy a case in point, even Beams to a lesser extent. They just lose control over where they'll end up.

In a later article Emma Quayle said that 14 clubs had continued to speak to him over the years, that Eddie was talking about him shows we'd be one of them. Hopefully Eddie's used some of his time as president of the stars building a good rapport and talking footy. Keath's only 23, so he's still got time even if it took him a year or 2 to find his feet and re-shape his body for footy. It's not like he'd need to learn the intricacies of the game.

Money isn't the be all and end all for some however you still need to make a living. While there's dollars in T20 and state cricket I'm not sure there's much pay in club cricket, given he'd be a rookie and outside of the cap it's an area that may now give AFL clubs an advantage.

Yep - Looked good for Essendon and Went back playing Good Form at VFL Level.

Not Saying a High Draft Pick for him but 3rd round and Onwards might be a good Cover or Help for Cloke up Forward

Maybe as a late rookie pick if no one better available and he has a good year at VFL.

He wasn't even in the article :confused:

Jordan Galluci provided strong run from defence to create opportunities, and Jonty Scharenberg, the younger brother of Collingwood's Matt, also starred with his capacity to find the ball and use it cleanly.

Seems to get a mention....

Was a Carlton supporter wasn't he?

I'd certainly love the club to fill it's quota of Cat B rookies. Currently got Cox but still 2 vacancies.

I'd be happy to look at either Keath or Hartley for those spots. Hartley's shoulders were the only thing that stopped him.

Would also be looking at the Kiwi's who played against the AIS squad.

If we get a top 10 pick again I'd be more inclined to have a look at Schache first. I think he is a little bit more consistent so far. Will be looking forward to the champs. Hopefully the Weed can have some big games too.
