Hine and Buckley have previously stated that Moore will ultimately play CHF but at this stage of his development it is easier to teach him where to run and CHF when he is playing on more experienced CHF's

It is interesting that we keep going on about the romantic notion of having Sam Weideman at Collingwood. The boy himself is a rabid Tiger's supporter and has no interest in the Pies.
He's on the record saying he has a soft spot for the Pies, and his Grandpa (Murray) is adamant he will play for Collingwood one day.
Who he currently barracks for is irrelevant once he is drafted, same as any other draftee.

I remember in an interview he did a while back that he said that Murray was constantly pestering Eddie to make sure the Pies got him. Would be a great thing to have Weiderman, Cloke, Moore and the Daicos boys running around together.
Make it happen Eddie

He says he would love to follow in the footsteps of his family as a Collingwood player but his real priority is just getting a start somewhere.

“Getting drafted is my AFL dream. Ever since Auskick I have wanted to play AFL footy and to follow in my dad and grandad’s footsteps is a major thing and something that has given me that extra drive,’’ he said.

“Grandpa has always been there supporting me through juniors and given me those extra tips he used in the day. He has been a tremendous support to me and so has my mum and dad.

“A lot of people ask me if I am Murray’s grandson and they always tell me how good he was and what a legend he was back in the day. It definitely adds a bit of pressure but I just want to keep my feet on teh ground and create my own fate.”

Must have some interest.

Hartley may well be worth another look if he's playing good enough football, especially as we lack key position players. I really can't imagine it would be possible for a club to pick up a player as a Category B Rookie, if he had previously been a NSW Scholarship player with that club, but then had been released. Especially as that scheme ended quite a few years back it just seems unlikely.

I suspect that when the rule says:- • is a former NSW Scholarship player with that club; it simply means someone still tied to the club and able to be upgraded to the Rookie List, not a former Scholarship player who has been released, because the way it reads we could reclaim Tom Young, Elijah Edwards even!
I reckon you're right that there'd be more to it, but I couldn't find any more detail to clarify it. It can't mean former program as the international scholarship scheme is still going, so it has to be some sort of former position holder, maybe just weirdly worded in that a player simply they stops being a scholarship holder on nominating for the draft. I suspect it's more clear in the AFL regs otherwise it's open to be exploited.

Hartley I see is worth another go especially as a mature ager with the likely loss of Keeffe. Whether his shoulders stand up is a factor.

I've had a good look through the current player rules and AFLPA-AFL Collective Bargaining Agreement and can't see anything that really covers it. I agree that it's most likely "just weirdly worded" because it seems too unlikely to me that former NSW Scholarship players could return to a previous club years after being let go, when the scheme is now defunct. I think when they say "former NSW Scholarship player with that club" they mean someone who was already at the club and had just been promoted from the scholarship list to the rookie list, rather than someone who had left the club and was eligible to return.

Given the injury woes Hartley suffered at Collingwood it would be a great story if he did end up back there. It seems he's been playing well and (I presume) hasn't had the fitness issues of late, so you never know.

Last year, Melbourne bid for Swans Academy player Isaac Heeney using pick two, which under the proposed new system will be worth 2,517 points.
I have watched the last 2 NFL drafts as i like it and like the idea of the afl doing this or trying it :-) New points system as well for the draft

If he was a die-hard Collingwood supporter we could of pulled the old Chad Wingard move.

It's shit and will fook us right in the Anul passage come father sons, Daicos kids x2, Callum Brown etc etc.

Academy kids get higher discount the father sons pfft feck you afl.

Thursday's meeting at AFL headquarters of the club chiefs will see the close to completed new system which had recently suggested that a 25 per cent points discount on academy players would apply with clubs selecting father-son picks only receiving a 15 per cent discount despite the history and tradition that goes with father-son selections.

ie you have to be 190 ish to play as a big midfielder and 200cm for kpf.

I still think the 194-197cm KPF perform the best ie Roughead, Kennedy, N.Reiwoldt, Franklin, Cloke, Schultz, Petrie, Cameron etc

200cm KPF are extremely overrated and really only a few decent ones even then they are inconsistent ie Tippett.

No it won't make the Daicos boys and brown will not play TAC Cup or nationals as they are in the Peter Daicos Academy. The club will develop them in house and when it gets to draft night the other clubs will be unsure on how good these boys can be and won't use a first rounder to bid for them

yeah but all the players you mention there are late 20's +. We are talking about the new generation of players here i.e. 10 to 12 years younger than those players.( Cameron being the exception)

Sure they wont.

Just like they didn't with Darcy who was also in the Academy.

I hear Pual Salmon went alright as a full forward. Most of these taller key forwards are still in the early stages of there careers. Give them time some will make it but some won't

What does that matter? Hogan, Cameron, Patton, Lynch (GC), Mcarthy, McCartin will be the next wave.

194-197cm players have a bit more natural athleticism and speed.

This is also what does my head in the the US experiment is all aimed at Ruck sized players when if the dropped down to 188 -198cm range they would find athletes that blow them ruck types out of the water (generally better hand eye coordination too) and could be where we could find a new gun KPF.
Don't say its harder to learn as they TEACH the rucks both positions KPF and RUCK.

It is a narrow minded by recruiters to be so tunnel visioned imo they are missing the boat.

Darcy had already been heavily exposed through u16's as an exceptional talent before the Daicos academy had been established though.

It will be interesting to see how much exposure our future father/sons get. Josh Daicos is on a TAC squad but it's already been said he will play little or no TAC this year so he can concentrate on his schooling. The only concern is have going down that pathway is the lack of exposure to elite competition in their age groups...
