List Mgmt. 2015 Draft Prospects

Does anyone think this may be the year we use our first draft pick on the best available forward. Whether that be Sam Weidemann or not?

Trav Cloke will be 29 at the start of next season, we need to start developing another KPF in the last 3-4 years of Trav's career, unless of course we go through the trade period or free agency.

Sure they wont.

Just like they didn't with Darcy who was also in the Academy.
Yes Darcy was in the academy but he was also the premiership captain of the Chargers played nationals and made the All Australian squad and was in the TAC cup team of the year. Whereas all Josh Daicos ha not been to a training session at the Chargers despite being picked in the squad they are going to go down a path similar to Jake Long. Who Essendon developed through there academy and cost the bugger all

I hear Pual Salmon went alright as a full forward. Most of these taller key forwards are still in the early stages of there careers. Give them time some will make it but some won't

Salmon was one out of the box and they really haven't found one like him since.

Dixon, Tippett, Moore, Clarke, Casboult, Boyd, Vickery are the 200cm one's not a lot around really and a mixed bag.

I also could of added to the 190s grp Hawkins, Tex Walker, Day, Reidx2, J.Reiwoldt etc.

We need to get Weideman a key forward who is a good shot on goal. That is exactly what we need

I am also would not mind:

Josh Schache
199cm/96kg
21/8/97
Key forward
Vic Country/Murray Bushrangers
Recruiters view Schache as one of the best kicks for goal they have seen at under-18 level, and he has lived up to that hype early this season with some impressive games. The son of former Brisbane Bears forward Laurence Schache, the 199cm prospect is using his body more than last year and converts most of his chances. He can find space on the lead, move up at the ball and also pinch-hit in the ruck when required

Yeah I think we should I just think looks to be the best forward at this stage.

We will see, if they play any footy through school a recruiter will be able to see what they are good at.

I fail to see your point here Casbolt is 199cm and he can't kick that does not mean that Schache and Weideman will be poor kicks.

Moore, Boyd, Patton, Lynch, Daniher and Wright all look to be very good young players, Lynch is the oldest of the group at 22. None of them will be stars over night you are comparing them to blokes in the prime of there careers of course they will not look as good

Harder to gauge talent level when the competition is not elite though.

Even then they go to Camberwell and that is not in the premier comp when it comes to school sport so they won't have a good understanding of where they are at.

I like this idea. Lock em away and develop them under cover. The AFL are ****ing us with father-son and this northern academy's rort so I'm more than happy to go down this path.

Firstly Patton and Lynch aren't 200cm, secondly 199cm is close enough Casboult. I also didn't say they would be poor kicks because Casboult is, don't even know why you went there??
Weid is in the 194-197 bracket.

3rd I compared them to the younger ones named the next wave coming through for both.

Regardless the point I was making is most the 200cm guys over many years arent as good in general will there be the odd outlier yes but as a general rule of thumb as far as KPF go 194 -197/8 is where it is at.

Yes but they can still get an idea what the player brings to the table especially if they stand out like a sore thumb.

Longs kid aint much chop that's why he went late not because they hid him.
Agree that Long jr is not great. I'm skeptical as to whether developing players in house will have any effect on whether recruiters will hold back on them or not, I'm just playing devils advocate here more than anything. It seems like the path the club is going down though.

I am concerned that a lack of exposure to elite competition may shark their development though...

Callum Brown is the same age as Josh Daicos isn't he? Does anyone know if he will be playing TAC this year, or will he be an 'in house' project too?

Patton is 198 that falls out side your range and an Tom Lynch is 199. There has not been mean 200 cm key forwards in that passed.
Also the difference between 197 and 200 cm is **** all. You were saying that forwards of that size are overrated because guys like Casbolt have proved to be no good

No club will bid a first rounder on a player they have not seen play

Don't you need a minimum number of clubs nominating a player before they can be considered in the draft?

Actually was referring to nearly all of the 200cm range KPF like Tippett being overrated I named many YOU singled out Casboult.

They aren't as good and often inconsistent, is he ^^ (Tippett) a good player yes but I would take Franklin, Cloke, Roughy, Walker, Kennedy all before him.

Some I named are young and yet to prove anything true but as I said there isn't a lot around but the ones who have been are overrated compared to their shorter counter parts. My response was in reply to the notion that all KPF should be 200cm types!
