Gut feel Philthy05 can't see him going in that top 3-5 must have group (in saying that he has done a great job at possibly proving me wrong in the champs) then he will slide to us based on the other clubs having more pressing needs

Ie Johnny Butcher in 09 style

Jeepers, I knew he was listed as weighing a bit, but I didn't expect Charlie Curnow to look this beefy.

Looks a helluva lot bigger than his brother.

He's the most intriguing one for me. Didn't play in the Championships as he recovers from a knee (dislocation in a game, no structural damage, should be 100% by the Draft Combine).

His regional manager described him as:

Haven't gotten to see him play though. But I'd imagine we'd have an eye on him for sure.
Unless he's playing dwarfs he's alot bigger than 191cms. F*** can see who the top three are but if you have pick 4 you are going to struggle to find a way to go past him. Can't see us getting better than pick five[emoji22]

I personally cannot offer much insight into Curnow, but Mickey Turner is legendary for pumping his charges up in the media. Every year his crop of Falcons coming through is just as good as the year that produced Ablett, Bartel, Brown and Hodge!

Keep looking at him and seeing Shaun Burgoyne and by accounts an A grade lad as well. Next years draft looks very deep. View attachment 150145

Can we all please make some kind of pact to stop sprouting this meaningless guff?

Every two seconds there's someone going on about how apparently shallow the draft is then five minutes later it's amazing and they are all going to be superstars. Does my head in. Nobody really has any clue.

No I like to daydream [emoji4] I'm wondering what he's doing on the port adelaide site though?
They mention Hampton for the Northern Territory as being eligible for this year's draft during that clip? I don't think that's right, he's an inside mid close to 190cm tall who is well worth a look if he is eligible he has played for our academy side but I'm almost certain he is next year's draft.

I wasn't referring to what you're saying about the individual in Parfitt.

It was the 'draft is very deep' comment.

He looks like a 190ish cm Shane Mumford in that pic. That would be a player!

Here is some footage of Davin Ferreira's first game for Norwood. It's good!
Ferreira is a great reason to find another 2nd round pick. He's probably not going in the first round but hard to see him being around in third. If his form continues with Norwood it's going to have him sitting in that mid 20 to mid 30 range. Would be good if we could solve our forward issue before the draft and free up our second round pick as to the type of player we look at. Both him and Rioli would be upgrades on Mitchell and SGray.

VICTORIA Country provided just 12 draftees in 2014, but it could have five players inside the first ten picks this year.

Country went undefeated through the Under 18 national championships and had eight players selected in the All-Australian team.

Most experts have Country bookends Jacob Weitering and Josh Schache pegged as the first and second picks.

On the flip side Victoria Metro had 25 of its academy players selected last year, but after winning just two games throughout the carnival that number is set to drop.

A weak Victoria Metro region suggests a shallow draft, however another contributing factor is the number of young guns battling injury.

With that in mind, here’s how the first round of the 2015 draft might look.

Burton and Curnow are the interesting ones. Due to injury you would have to assume they would be in the 10-20 bracket but a few good performances and a good combine may see them go top ten, similar to Nakia Cockatoo. Both could push into the midfield at their height and with their athleticism.

Riley Bonner may be available in the 2nd round - could be worth a look.

Weideman is the one who may be available at our pick and is a handy KPF. I'm not sure that is the type of player we should draft considering our list make up and finals push. Ie - trade for a KPF rather than draft, but may be too good to pass up.

Fox Footy first round (only based on a 1-18 count not where teams might be placed). Of those that have had some attention in this thread, no Curnow, Francis at 3, Weidemann at 6, Mathieson 8, McKay 9, Ah Chee 11, Burton 12, Partington 15 (didn't know he was a Tumby Bay lad, reads a bit like Luke Dunstan), Dunkley 16.

I think we have enough KPD's and enough project KPF's.

We need a ready made KPF.
An outside mid (Polec(injury troubles), White(29 next year) and Mitchell(who could be delisted) are not enough).
Maybe a small forward as well since Neade is the only guy we have.

For me I'm interested in burton and curnow . I agree we have enough project talls but both these guys offer something different as prospects as the can be very good second forwards.

We also need a very good inside extractor , but I have my doubts we have a real good option three at our first pick. Possibly Mathieson. Dunkley but talk of his lack of spread or ability to win the ball outside makes him seem not a port style pick and too one dimensional for an early pick gamble.

There will be some fast outside types going around our pick and we do need a Matty whit replacement eventually as we really do rely on this fast outside wingers , although I really like amon and Polec but another speedster would be great. Don't need to stretch or reach though for this need. Fast outside guys can actually sometimes be found with later picks if you can be patient and cherry pick when to go for one.

We need a specialist small forward so that Wingard and Gray can rotate through the midfield more often and at the same time.

Probably the only small forward the the draft who could be ready to go next year would be Ferreira? By ready in the sense he seems to already have a bit of physicality about him. On the other hand a Richmond rookie of a couple of years ago Gibson Turner who was mentioned earlier by someone who had recently watched him play in Sydney could be worth a look. There's a 2011 video not sure if anything recent is around. Would cost nothing as far as picks go.

in b4 we pick parish just to piss everyone here off: "Parish seems to be always on the move. When he plays off half-back, he gets the ball and likes to pass it off, set something up and then keep running." 178cm 69 kgs you know ken loves these players ;)

Realistically though I really see us picking up Mathieson, he should be in our range

Well, at the moment we're 11th and if the Cats beat the Roos that will be our position. The bottom 4 look pretty set, maybe even the bottom 5. With our run home and games against Adelaide, the Saints, Gws at home and the Suns away we may finish 9-11. Wouldn't expect our first pick to be any better than late top 10.
