Would pretty well rule out a key position forward? Maybe about right for Ah Chee?

Wouldn't make a call on Schache until a showdown with Weitering in the tac which isn't far away. With those man-childs my grading method is solely based on what he does against big opponents. He found space well today but Francis played very agressive on him after quarter time.

Both players named in their comeback after champs so this is happening this week. Will be very interesting the outcome.

Still burton and possibly curnow will be available.

Tough to know with both players of their U16 form was good enough for selectors to take them so early. If they don't play and can't combine they may even drop to second round. You would think they both would be in they 10-20 range.

Maybe Burton but you look on the draft boards there's plenty of interest in him. If either were there at 10 it would be an Ollie / Chad moment.

Chad had some serious concussion concerns from memory. Was knocked out something like 6 times during the year IIRC.

heh. I was on a plane from Perth-ADL sometime late in Chad's draft year and got talking to a Brisbane recruiter/scout who was sitting next to me. he talked down wingard due to said concussion concerns and talked up Billy Longer. bloke had had a few wines by that stage. oh and this dude had some family connection with Nick Salter of all people.

Parttington didn't do anything to scream Draft me (with a top ten pick anyway) yesterday at c the parade

Has he shown that sort of ability? I haven't seen much of him

Others here have seen much more of him than me and would probably disagree. But he's a big strong teenager (b.3/96, 186cm 87kg), plays tough uncompromising medium defender footy. Think western suburbs Tommy Jonas.

Mathieson is mentioned as the toughest player in the draft and I noticed we ended up with him in a mock draft on the draft board. While being the toughest player out there there's a question about his disposal being a little scattered. Not bad but not good. Should " Elite kick" be a prerequisite for our first pick?

I think we should definitely be looking to add elite kicks to our side , but also elite inside players is fine.

Those looking for elite legs:
-From SA Riley Bonner has one of the best legs in this years crop. Has a bit of speed and intercept marking in his game aswell, left footer but is equally good on the right and a hbf looks like a typical hawthorn pick up. Going to be strange to gauge picking him up though in terms of draft position. Considering the general consensus around our first pick is 10; that is a bit too high to pick him up considering guys like Curnow and burton may still be available. our second round would be around 28-30 somewhere around there and by then he would most likely be gone. Difficult to pick him up unless we upgrade our second round or get a pick inbetween 11 and 29
-Keiran Aguis, another sa boy who is touted as the best field kick in the draft by Brett Anderson. He is a freak around goal and is extremely quick and agile. The downside, and the major downside at that is that he is extremely lazy. He doesn't chase or pressure the opposition, no two way running is this due to his fitness? maybe but its more based on attitude. We know how much ken loves his two way running in his players and although he is such a prodigious kick I don't see us picking him up, I don't see anyone picking him up to be quite frank.

Others who have decent legs who's draft range is too hard to tell at the moment:
-Darcy Tucker
-Mitch Hibberd
-Jade Gredsham (a bit small at 177cms)

Credit to skippos for some of the info

If there are no good talls in the draft I'd trade our first pick for James Stewart from GWS. Maybe they throw in a later pick or whatever.

at this stage Stewart isn't worth our 1st round pick .. he is currently worth about a 3rd rounder (this is only because he is still learning)

Any chance Aaron Francis, if he were available at our pick, could play forward? He reads it beautifully. I'd lean towards taking him regardless if he's at our pick (obviously behind Schache and Weitering). Just seems like a natural footballer who could play anywhere ala Brendon Goddard..

their is a very slight chance ... he is rated as around top 4 - 5 pick .. and we could have pick 7 ... the problem is Melbourne could pick him to boost their defence and if they don't then Essendon will pick him (as they will need a defender)
