Yeh I was thinking along the lines of O'Shea to Saints for 23, and Moore/Young to Melbourne for 24. I think Young is worth 24 but not Moore by himself, but hey its Melbourne so anythings possible.

I also honestly believe a fair trade for Dixon is our pick 10 for Dixon + GC pick 21, coz GC might only want to go into the draft with 3 live picks, and they would already have picks 3,10 and 19 (First round compo).
O'Shea to the Saints for 23 is reasonable I just don't think 24 is gettable for Young and Moore. O'Shea is a quality player in big games he's proven that in finals. If he's awake at the start of the season 23 is cheap but with Young and Moore the quality just isn't there I would happily take my chances in the draft with a second round pick.

I would take Dixon and a swap of picks. The reputation of this draft is that it is going to be shallow so instead of having 3, 19 and 21 GCS could see some light in going in with 3, 10 and 19/21. Depending on which we can convince them to swap. And we would then have 30 as well, unless I am mistaken in the number of compo picks to be activated. Some talk I see of getting a second-rounder for O'Shea but I don't see that happening as I feel O'Shea is in Kens' long-term plan.

I'd be incredibly surprised if Saints gave up pick 23 for O'Shea, and would probably die laughing if we managed to get a pick in the 20s for Moore or Young.

Any young guys with a decent kick, not a piece of string, and has blistering speed available in the draft? If so what is their draft range?

If you change that to elite kick and decent speed, the answer is Sam Mayes and a pick in the high teens or low twenties.

He's got all the talent in the world Mayes. Who ever gets him away from the player welfare and development hole that is Brisbane will be laughing.

I still think we'll keep Young, though have heard there are at least 2 clubs interested in him. Moore no chance. We'll either get a token pick 80 or someone will pick him up as a DFA. O'Shea i'd love to keep but can see why we would look to trade him. I'd say a pick in the 30s is more likely. If you look at the history of guys traded for picks in the 20s, they are a lot better/consistent than Cam is. Is it worth trading him for a pick in the 30s? I'm not really sure it is. I think he's of more use to us than what we'd end up getting at a pick in that range.

Ok so nobody in the u/18 category - or no one you are aware of.

So will we/Ken have a theme in our 2015 trading and recruiting??

2013 Land of the speedy smalls and mid sized players - Polec, White, Impey, DBJ, Amon with Harvey being the exception
2014 Land of the Giants - Ryder, Howard, Austin, Frampton with Palmer and Krak being the exceptions

205 Land of the hard arses??

I hope so

Ive said it before and I'm going to keep harping on it , but the way the maggies lined up as soon as we pulled ahchee and sammy gray up , young was injured and Moore stopped giving a shit shows we need more depth in mids ...

We really need to add some young centre square prospects. We may be pretty well bursting for ready depth I think so we absolutely don't need to add a ready made prospect in.ess they are better then the guys fighting it out for spots right now but some developing kids would be nice.

But in reality we may go for best available which I don't mind so much as long as we do target some genuine mids.

What did the crows get for Bernie Vince?

Stephen Tahana I wouldn't say is blistering, but he's quick and has excellent agility. Decent frame to build on too.

I think he can go anywhere from 20 to late.

Also, this is the first time I'll mention this name, but I'm big on Jordan Dawson from Sturt. He's not getting mentioned much on the draft board, which hopefully means he'll sliiiiide and Port will have a look late.

Pick 23 I think. Had much better form than Cam had.
Sure but O'Shea is younger and fills a role that the Saints are looking for, can definitely see us getting a pick in the 20s for him. I reckon the saints were trying to moneyball Delaney into that role but have realised that isn't going to work out.
O'Rourke for pick 19 I think would be similar, sure he was a top 10 pick, but had also shown far less than Cam.

While on third round picks
Daniel Rioli who is in this bracket kicked four goals for North Ballarat in their final last weekend. They get a week off then a preliminary final.

Most of us thought Burnie was way under the odds. Burnie wasn't traded to get 23 he was traded to get Polec. It blew up on them though.

O'Rourke was a #2 draft pick, 2 years into the system, he could still trade on being pick 2, despite having done nothing.

Look its possible St Kilda might give up their 2nd round pick for O'Shea, if they consider it that bad a draft, but looking at evidence over the last few years, I'd say the chances are slim.

I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to give up pick 23 . They won't have pick 23 btw. They currently have pick 24 , once danger , kreuzer and possibly Selwood and luenburger go in fa it's somewhere from pick 26-28.

Still i wouldn't blame them for wanting to keep that pick. That's their perogitive. But if pick 45 is what's on offer (their 3rd) no way would I deal Oshea to them. And pick 26-28 is a lot closer to his value then pick 45ish. So as he is contracted I would hold onto him. He is far too useful unless we gets something good for him. If saints want to pry him loose they would have to offer more than pick 45 or wait until he is uncontracted. In which case we could still ask for a third rounder probably so haven't lost much.

O'Shea is worth more than 23!
However, taking his wages off the bill and a pick 23 may swing it.

Sydney give up their 2nd round pick and it usually is between 25 and 32. What had McGlynn and Kennedy done games wise when they trade picks in that range for them in 2009??. Sydney are the masters of finding value in trading away their 2nd round pick.

My current preferences would be (if the status quo remained in terms of draft picks)

1. Weideman /Curnow / AhChee / H Mckay

2. Burton / O'Kearney / Cole

3. Jeffs / Rioli / Tahana

I really like O'Kearney, doubt he would slide to our second pick though. See him being a very solid part of an AFL midfield in the future (although not the star of said midfield).
