He's been mentioned before back in July in this thread but I wouldnt be surprised if we look at Brandan Parfitt for a late pick or even a rookie pick.

He played for NT Thunder in the U/18 championships, and was an All Oz selection. Played 5 league games for North Adelaide and 10 for their reserves this year and is in our Aboriginal Academy. This story about him is on the website. The sort of solid citizen the club likes and take advantage of our academy set up without giving up a pick like the northern academies.

NOT many teenagers can say they’ve won a national scholarship, been selected in the under 18 All-Australian team and graduated from an AFL football academy in the space of a year.

2015 has been a pretty big one for 17-year-old Port Adelaide Aboriginal AFL Academy graduate Brandan Parfitt – and by the sound of things, it’s only going to get better. The young talent recently received a prestigious Jim Stynes scholarship for his commitment to academic and sports excellence as an indigenous student.........The scholarship funds go towards football, travel and education expenses to help him pursue his potential as a footballer. He’s one of just 44 recipients across the country......

There's not really much here to say about who we'd want as just about all of them will be gone by our pick. There have been sliders and we have got a few, Shaun Burgoyne, Kane Cornes and Robbie Gray in particular come to mind.
And Adam Goodes, Dane Swan, Sam Mitchell and Nat Fyfe. Now there's a late foursome. Picked at 43, 58, 36 and 20 and Goodes played 372 games for 163 Brownlow votes and 2 medals, Swan 257 games for 186 votes and a medal, Fyfe 112 games for 106 votes and a medal and Mitchell 285 games for 204 votes but no medal.
Not saying there will be another, our best result may come from our rookie upgrade this year. Although we haven't seen yet first-hand what academy and F/S bidding will do to our picks. If we can get into the top 30 and a few teams draft for needs instead of best available we could still get someone worthwhile. If there had been no reason to trade away #10 I would have been hopeful to get Charlie Curnow. I expect him to be going top 10 or top 15 at the latest. Hopefully there will be a similar player the recruiting officers have their eye on at our first pick.

I presume you mean in 2016 REH? ;)

"While too young to enter the draft this year, Parfitt’s keeping his focus on the near future by training hard and preparing for a big season with North Adelaide. But asked whether he’s planning on playing at the AFL level one day, the answer is simple.
“For sure - that’s a dream of mine,” he said."

Haha I obviously missed that. But I did see his named mentioned in a mock draft thread on that board as one of the players likely to be drafted this year.

Cal Twomey on AFL:

PORT ADELAIDEPick 32: Recruiting manager Geoff Parker will again have to twiddle his thumbs for the first half an hour of draft night before getting into things. Some defensive back-up might be on the cards with their first pick, and West Australian Jesse Glass-McCasker has height (196cm, 95kg) and speed (3.06 seconds over 20 metres at the combine) on his side.

Around the mark: Aidyn Johnson, Cameron Hewett, Brandon White

The WA talent manager didn't overstate his potential.

He has very raw talent and all the athletic traits, but to improve he needs to keep working on his skills, his game sense and football knowledge."

Raff Guadagnino, WA talent manager

Guadagnino seems to be a bit like that. Dunno if it's a good or a bad thing - get tired of hearing year after year from Mick Turner that his current crop in the "Geelong Falcons footy factory' is the best one yet :D

Darryl Borlase as a younger footballer was once asked about his football, I think after a game against Sturt where he kicked 10 goals and so warranted a feature piece in the tiser. He said something along the lines of he was pleased with his game but to cement his place in the team he really wanted to improve his engine, pace, marking and kicking. :D He went on to captain Port Adelaide despite his perceived shortcomings.

Borlase kicked 10!?@? When was that?
10 goals against Sturt in 1987.
In 1991 Daisy was the PAFC's leading goalkicker with.... 25 goals.

I've got those highlights on video somewhere. He was kicking them from all over the shop.

I think I remember the day Daisy kicked 10. Against Sturt at Adelaide Oval?

Edit: just saw the subsequent posts

Yeah but rookie draft?
scottjr thinks we should trade Hartlett to make room for him. :D

Brisbane has picks 38-42 and might have to cash them all for early round points.

THERE could be a record low number of players drafted this year, with clubs tipping there will be no more than 60 prospects brought into the system.Clubs are expecting a total of approximately 58-60 live selections at November's NAB AFL Draft, which would be the lowest in draft history.

The previous lowest was in 2013, when 63 players were picked. Last year there were 76 players taken by clubs at the national draft.

Adelaide, Collingwood, Fremantle, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, St Kilda, Richmond and the Sydney Swans could all use just three picks on draft night. Brisbane, Geelong, Gold Coast, Melbourne, North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs are all expected to take four picks to the draft..........

Shit he looks bigger than any of most of our on ballers and a few of our KPPs!

When I first saw it on my phone small screen this morning I thought it was Wangers from 1990 GF but yeah on the laptop he is a decent size across the shoulders and chest.

Imagine how good Daisy would have been if only he could run, sprint, jump, kick, mark and handball!

Given the use of mid draft picks to bolster academy and father son bids our picks 32 and 49 could become 30 and 43.
It has been suggested that some later picks could be improved by as much as 10. This is part of a story on the afl website.
For instance, Essendon's pick No.57 may leap forward 10 spots to become pick 47 if early bids are matched and picks are pushed to the end of the draft.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-27/draft-crop-could-be-the-smallest-on-record

As only 5 of the first 32 picks go to Brisbane, GCS and GWS, and some of those will be used for straight draft picks instead of bidding, our first pick is only likely to improve by 2 or 3 at the best. Academy teams have 9 picks in a row from 36-44 so pick 49 could go forward considerably.
