This year we copy the Crows.... and declare with our late picks that "we can't believe that players x, y and z were still there - we had them all in our top 25."

One of the players in the '30 days to the draft' series, no 17 Tom Cole is like that, some clubs rate him highly but he could go in the 20-40 range. Although it also compares him to Shaun Burgoyne, which seems a bit of an odd comparison if he could go as late as 40.

I reckon burton will be there at our first pick. and I reckon we are a good fit as we don't need him to come in and have an impact straight away

I'm hoping for Callum Ah Chee although he'll probably gone , then Burton who'll also be probably gone after them a good midfielder , I think we're reasonably stocked else where . Maybe a rookie ruck man

Not necessarily. Teams may want a player who can have an instant impact. Burton won't give clubs this.

We can afford to have him sit out entirely in the first year if we want

Yeah mostly agree with you. Scharenberg is that example and still went high. Hopefully he does slip to us... I think that'll cap off an unbelievable offseason!

West Coast, the dogs and north whom all have picks before us wouldn't seek a ready made player and also have time to develop which can be a real threat to us picking up burton.

I reckon Burton will be taken after pick 15 (pick 19 by carlton to be specific)

One of the teams that have multiple early picks will take the risk with Burton.

We worked on his dad's roof a few years back Craig Burton , we were like " aren't you the guy ? This was after we told him we were Port barrackers . He knew straight away what we were on about and he said ' Yes I'm the one who kicked Norths only goal in the 89 Grand Final ,, poor bugger that's what everyone remembers him for .
He was telling us then Craig was looking good .

Having only 1 sa boy taken in the national draft (although he has now been delisted) since 2012 and the u18 team performing very well in the carnival would we be dissapointed if we picked up 2 sa boys (guys like snelling, redman, hewett etc) who would be in our range or do we believe that there is better talent out there?

Please just stop it. All you are doing is fuelling my inevitable depression when he goes to a Carlton or Melbourne.....or gawd forbid....crows.

You know that we will all get our heart set on Burton & maybe Tahana on BF, then we will pick someone from country NSW or the WAFL that noone has ever heard of....like Nathan Blee & Dougal Howard.

I have decided to get my heart set on Mason Redman. He moves really well, marks well and looks like he will be a great size. He ran 10.10 for 3 km so has a decent motor. Apparently he came down from the country this year so he seems to have a lot of scope to be a player. He doesn't get huge numbers but can win clearances and has good disposal efficiency. He probably goes just before our first pick.

Yea he looks pretty good , if we miss on Burton could be a good option as a third tall
