I have watched Rueben play a couple of times this year, very talented but very raw. Personally don't think he is worth a senior spot yet, rookie only if still available
Had a very good 18's championships. Got a combine invite (only 76 invites), so at least 4 clubs want to look at him closely & are interested. In a weak draft, raw players with upside will be taken more than usual.
Brisbane will be doing anything to land more picks to grab him. Player retention for them is important and home grown talents can't be let go.

Dyson Budarick has earned the final NEAFL Rising Star nomination. Good work!!

Given his presence on the Suns website, it's basically confirmed that we'll be picking him up in the draft in one way or another.

Some comments from Josh Fraser:

“I have been impressed with him every time he has stepped out for us this year,” he said.

“He is definitely growing in stature and confidence. He has been really combative in the midfield and his tackling has been terrific.

“He looks at home at NEAFL level and we think he has been a valuable contributor for us. You can never count someone like Dyson out of AFL Draft contention.”

To me that's a pretty big statement coming from a person who's been in the game for 15 years. The fact that at least one of our coaches rates him this highly is a sign he'll definitely get drafted. AFL reserves sides in the NEAFL are only allowed to pick 4 academy players each week, and he has been selected every time the Queensland state side isn't playing (and he has been selected every time they play as well). Although he is by no means dominating (in the NEAFL) he is playing pretty well for a 18 yr old who has barely played any senior footy. Recruiters find players who can perform at senior level appealing.

Would b pretty happy if Suns held onto Budarick, as to the bolded; from observation, it's 100% correct. Kids that are performing consistently and racking up numbers against mature bodies will b amongst the 1st considered. I believe Wells is a bit of a wiz @ this. ;)

He is so quick and agile snd slots them from outside 50
Loves a tackle to.
Cant wait to see a double backflip after he slots 1 sometime in the future
The thing is, his talent and smarts speak for themselves, no need for theatrics. If it came down to it tho he is also quite capable, wanna send him a special request..? :p

I for 1, would give a standing ovation.

In fairness I think they gave everything against us
I really don't think they are tanking. Beams played several weeks with a bung shoulder when they could have put him on ice and every good fit player they had played against us last week, in the right position.

The Demons experience was a bad one where they took it too far. A club would be mad to risk it. They are in a great position this year though since what they really need are key position players and it seems like the top 2 in the draft are good ones.

Clubs having bad seasons like the Lions, Blues, Suns and Bombers just need to be sensible. Play as many youngsters as you can, put players on ice if they have issues that need post-season surgery, and try and play hard. Let the draft order fall where it may.

“Francis is a similar size to Stringer or Darling, who can literally play anywhere over the ground, if I was Carlton I would seriously look at picking him at pick two.” - SEN update on draft.

Francis really seems to tick a lot of boxes for us to take him @ 3 - unless the Blues take him @ 2 and we get Weitering. Win/win.

Twomey said also Curnow is playing his first game in 4 or so months for Geelong Falcons.
Lining up in the forward line then likely push into the midfield as his fitness builds up.
At 192cm and 95kg he'd be a dominate midfield Kennedy like beast

I think West Coast were saying Darling was going to play midfield this year.. Until he got injured
He stands 191 and 89kg
So plus 5kg on Darling is Curnow. Wow
I think Curnow is more the Darling/stringer. Dominate up forward
Francis is more dominate down back intercepting

Haven't seen any of Charlie Curnow but based on his measurements and being a big bodied mid / forward he certainly would fill a couple of our needs if he is the real deal Holyfield

Isn't Parish suppose to be rather handy too...

Would rather keep winning and get a winning culture going into the pre season.
Good eye, he's been touted as maybe the best midfielder, who doesn't have room for more of those..?
