It's going to be fun surprising those sides who thought we lack star midfielders when our full complement is back on the park next year.

Have you guys on my boards mock draft, have taken Clayton Oliver with the first pick and (after Burton was stolen) Ryan Clarke with your second. Figured you needed a big bodied inside mid and some outside goalkicking mid to replace Bennell. Thoughts? What else may you look at with later picks?

This confirms it was Hibberd that impressed Gold Coast at the combine - sprint coach etc . He will be selected by us at 16 if available - might even be a smokey for 6 given Claytons affection for Tasmanians......
Wouldn't think anyone would use a top 10 pick on a kid whose had a knee and shoulder Reco by the age of 19.

Could easily be wrong.
But if people are worried about Burton I'd be similarly worried about Hibbered

Given the confirmation about the sprint coach and being impressed by Hibberd it doesn't appear the club has played its cards too close to its chest... given Hawks are picking at 15 and 18 and knowing our interest in Hibberd so publicly I would definitely be using their pick 15 on Hibberd if I was them.

Less worried about Hibberd...has had almost 12 months to show he has recovered and was just a normal ACL not a 'car crash' knee injury that Burton went through who hasn't got back on the park yet to show how it has impacted him.

in past years, a fair few of our picks seemed set in stone coming up to draft night, eg wright, kolo, etc.

obviously still a couple weeks out but i'd say we'd be going for best available. there's plenty of good top 10 talent that would suit most teams. i'd say this draft has been one of the harder ones to predict in previous years. oliver is still a possiblity.

By your reckoning maybe...confident we can get Francis, Weideman, Curnow at 6 - if not Hibberd. How's your mock draft looking now ??
1. Carlton - Jacob Weitering
2. Brisbane - Josh Schache
3. Sydney - Callum Mills (ACAD)
4. Melbourne - Darcy Parish
5. Essendon - Aaron Francis
6. Essendon - Sam Weideman
7. Gold Coast - Clayton Oliver
8. GWS - Jacob Hopper (ACAD)
9. Melbourne - Charlie Curnow
10. Carlton - Wayne Milera
11. Adelaide - Mitchell Hibberd
12. Carlton - Harry McKay
13. Richmond - Jade Gresham
14. Adelaide - Ryan Burton
15. St. Kilda - Callum Ah Chee
16. Hawthorn - Harley Balic
17. GWS - Matthew Kennedy (ACAD)
18. Brisbane - Eric Hipwood (ACAD)
19. Gold Coast - Ryan Clarke
20. North Melbourne - Rhys Mathieson
21. Hawthorn

I just go back to Allies Grand Final form and combine results - Hibberd is well over these injuries ... combine results say he can easily go top ten.

I'm not saying his not over them.. Just saying he could easily need another shoulder or knee Reco
More so then another kid without prior injuries

Point noted - but talent expressed is what we are chasing . If that talent is still being shown after severe setback - then these are the blokes you are after - great mental and rehabilatative strength . Eg Jake Stringer , Jake Lever. Don' t underestimate the mental trauma of injury in your draft years - it takes a very dedicated person to deal with that.
and come through the other side. Hibberd has done that and will reward the club that selects him with equal effort...

It would mature them up going through that ordeal at such a young age . You look at history and players that have gone top 10 with bad injuries as juniors and they go alright , Stringer snapped his leg , Judd had a shoulder reco , i'm sure there is more but gotta back the club on it.
