What makes you think the mids at our pick will be good enough? Will Oliver last and are others good enough?

Are you saying Conca not good enough and FJ should be sacked? We are getting numbers up now and if guys like Yarran get a gig it really means others are not good enough so what does that mean for the creators? Or do they continue to get blank cheques?

I am curious why we did not pick up Gorringe? We might not have any recognisable next year. We really must be hoping we are pick Goldstein or another FA target I guess.

Those putting money in the FTF fund and the players must really be getting anxious from the off fields efforts this year.

At least they got Kennedy and Moore at value to provide some chance for holes to be addressed
Kennedy ??
The starting on ballers who play in that role more than most are generally Maric , cotchin , miles , grigg
From 11 years of heading drafting including multiple years of high picks it is simply not good enough.

No I won't and nor will you when he pisses off back home in two years time after ducking the club around with soft cocked down hill skiing efforts, trying to build a highlights package and being dropped to the VFL .
We do not need to be spending a first round pick on a bloke who is not going to address the problem which has seen the club belted in 3 consecutive years finals .
I love objective truths. Tell us more. :D

I am with you on Oliver being our man but I don't share your doubts on Ah Chee. The kid can seriously play, has a great head on his shoulders and his brother is going into his fifth year in Adelaide, so I'm not sure he's the flight risk you think he is.

Who was the last interstate kid we had who went home when we wanted him to stay? Troy Taylor, then who? Peter Wilson?

If our list was in the same shape as 2009 we would take Oliver at 12.
In 2015 we will take AhChee.
I was a fan of the safe pick but we need/can afford to take a risk this year.

Isn't the govt bankrupt so they are chasing your money via the GST on more and wait even more!

Maric is not an onballer and Grigg his an elder statesmen learning the caper.

I understand our need for on ballers but if there is not quality at first pick we can't just waste the pick on a speculative gamble for the sake of it.

Remember Dusty and co need to be eyeing up premiership chances for the next 10 years!

Wow what makes you think that he will be heading back home and wont be putting in the hard yards ?

To me Callum Ah Chee looks and speaks like a kid that has his head well and truly screwed on the right way and the family is extremely supportive of both he and his brother continuing their careers away from home in their pursuit of a career.

He comes across as an extremely intelligent kid that will become a long term player - He just turned 18 so give him a chance to develop his defensive game as most juniors are pretty much just offensive (the good ones are anyway)

I have no issue with Ah Chee and would be stoked if he lands at Tigerland

Jeez, thought I'd stumbled into the Carlton thread on the topic of Yarran for a second there...

I haven't read anything to suggest Ah Chee is anything but a fairly mature teenager (more so than most) who wants to get the best out of himself wherever that takes him. Seems to have a skill set the team currently lacks. Having recruited 2 mature inside mids, the need for a big body seems less urgent and selecting the best and most talented player available in round 1 appears the best tactic... never having met or spoken to him, as you clearly have, I'd appreciate more insight into why you think he'll do an Aish on the Tigers?

Looks like we'll get a good guy with our pick. That's all I want. Oliver is probably my first option. However, given I know very little about it I wouldn't trust my opinion. With our first pick what we want more than anything is a guy that will play AFL for a long time to a high standard. Superstar is nice. But good talent, with a good brain and attitude = pick. If we have multiple guys like that then pick either what suits us best or the guy that fills a need best.

I'm not stressed. FJ picks first rounders very well.

I've been out of the footy talk for about three weeks, I know we got Andrew Moore for free, very happy with that.

So this Oliver kid I've been reading about, he's the one we'll definitely take if he's still there?

From what i can see if Oliver is there at pick 15 then FJ and co will be doing cartwheels....no chance to get to us

No need brother. Can just sign him as a delisted free agent. Doubt we go near him tbh.
Yeah the bleeding obvious doesnt go down with us all to well...the dude is a pro who gets given the job and carries it out to the letter, with the AFL world going gaga as to how he does it..he dont give a flying ****...and everyone bar the supporters of the team he plays for hate his guts....we are to nice to have somoeone like that on our list...its kinda a reason we fall short year in year out.

At 31 he has probably 1 year left, been out of the game for a year so a little risky.
The question is not whether he will add to the side as I think he would but do you give up a spot on the team for a C.Ellis or Menadue or 12 pick to have a chance at continued development? I say no, we have taken 2 big bodies in Towny and Moore don't see the long term rewards in going again with a 31 YO tagger
