. Richardson explained Richmond’s philosophy going into the 2015 National Draft . . .“You tend to pick best player when it comes to an early pick, a first round pick. But, having said that, there are a couple of small forwards around that range that might come into consideration,” he said.

WIth those words..'.best available...small forwards"... reckon its down to the following players...

Clayton Oliver (Murray Bushies)- 187cm / 86kg A contested beast with a thirst to hit the scoreboard Strengths (Stoppages, One on one contested marking situations, Hits the scoreboard, Tackling) Weaknesses (Not the quickest player, Skills aren’t elite) Played 2 VFL with us in 2015- averaged 15 possies

Callum Ah Chee (South Fremantle)182 cm/ 71 kg - A quick and agile forward, brilliant speed and combines that with excellent foot skills to be a damaging run-and-carry player-jumps high, runs the 20-metre sprint in 2.88 seconds and can turn a game with his class in the midfield and across half-forwardStrengths (Short/Mid range kicking, composure, goal sense, vertical leap, speed) Weaknesses (Consistency, work rate)

Jade Gresham (Northern Knights) 177cm/74kgs- pocket rocket ball magnet, great around stoppages and with a fantastic eye for goal. Strengths (Leadership- Captain Northern Knights, Decision making, Clearances, Agility) Weaknesses (Height). Will we take another Northern Knight to add to the Cotch, Grimes, Vlas, Lennon club?

HARLEY BALIC (Sandringham Dragons) - 187cm/80kg -high half-forward who is just as able to rotate through the midfield, potential to become a quality goal-kicking midfielder; goes hard at the ball, but complements his game by easing through traffic and producing some more freakish moments . He marks well above his head, kicks goals and can be used in the midfield and enjoys throwing himself into the fray.

Rhys Mathieson (Geelong Falcons) 183cm/79kg- strong grunt midfielder that does his best work in and under the pack. Strengths (Endurance Workrate Leadership Kicks goals) Weaknesses (Doesn’t always take the time he should with his disposal)

Hey guys, I sat in on a draft meeting with FJ et al. And I thought you'd find this exciting. He said he's prepared to start taking risks on x-factor players, specifically naming Ah Chee, because of the new, hardline development coach we hired.

I can't tell you the name of the coach yet but I snuck out a photo of him taking dusty to task over his professional standards:

That was literally the afternoon after trade week. Personally I dont think there is much to read in to
People will read what they want in that

Personally for me it's always best available when it's your first turn to call out someone's number. If that means player A that we thought would go early but is still there and player B we were going to take is still there you take the best. Welcome aboard player A.

After our first pick its needs based.

I am with you on Oliver being our man but I don't share your doubts on Ah Chee. The kid can seriously play, has a great head on his shoulders and his brother is going into his fifth year in Adelaide, so I'm not sure he's the flight risk you think he is.

Who was the last interstate kid we had who went home when we wanted him to stay? Troy Taylor, then who? Peter Wilson?
Relton?

Knightmare's player comparisons make them all sound hopeless tbh. One poor draftee got called a poor man's Matthew Broadbent.
I've gone right off KM this year. He's full of it.

Anyway, Mathieson's Draft Machine package is a bit more impressive than Skippos' youtube montage. I'm starting to really like him, he'd be a solid addition no doubt.

No I won't and nor will you when he pisses off back home in two years time after ducking the club around with soft cocked down hill skiing efforts, trying to build a highlights package and being dropped to the VFL .
We do not need to be spending a first round pick on a bloke who is not going to address the problem which has seen the club belted in 3 consecutive years finals .
How do you know he is going to leave after 2 years?
