Freo said they have a couple of potential signings that are very advanced in negotiations. I have no idea why they signed Clarke, if they are pursuing Leuey, but Leuey is a bit reluctant to do so much travel with his body problems. Schoe and McBean may be on our radar but who knows if they are interested in coming. If it is true litherland wants to come home, I hope we are all over him. This is going to be wait and see, unfortunately.
Hoping for KPF and KPF\Ruck, but expecting ruck and flanker :(

Purely putting on my Freo goggles here.. But, no other clubs outside of WA will pick him as they've seen 1st hand what he's (not) capable of whilst his mind is focused on being at home. If WCE is still in the mix for Redden - their 1st pick won't be an option. And (re: any Selwood compo pick) does Geelong really have room in their midfield for Scooter if they score Dangerfield?
Good scenario's. Going to be a great trade period and unfortunately we probably won't know anything until 5 minutes before the end of it all. In Bondy we endure.

The state of our KPP's shocked me today, plus having to hear about the GF for the next week it is becoming harder and harder to stay positive.

I think we need 3 KPP's, and I can't see it happening. :(
On the positive side. If we had of lost A. Pearce, it would have been even worse.;)

Forgot about Redden, been very quiet from his camp since that announcement.
With Brisbane taking a hard line on Aish it wouldn't surprise me if they do the same to Redden unless they get a really good offer. If they force him to stay and he leaves next year as a free agent they could get a top 5 pick for him.

They're not taking a hard-line. Reality right now is that know one else wants him so he has little choice but to stay.

Does anyone remember Lyon saying he/club is meeting with players the Saturday before the Doig? Isn't that this Saturday/tomorrow?
I thought he said he would meet with the (meaning Freo) players in the week before the Doig. Which would be next week.

Glad they ditched the ridiculous November Doigs.

Cant see us going for both Bennell and Jetta. If we are now starting to have an interest in Jetta - that to me shows we are less confident in Bennell
Jettas uncle reckons he wants to come to us cos of the wce booing/spearing thing. He had been a lock for them 4 monthes ago but now he doesnt wanna go there. Reckon we may get him for a second or third rounder or psd if he nominates just us. Definitely best 22

Despite all the vague rumours over the past few off seasons this is the first time I've actually thought we are in the box seat to make something great happen...... Not sure i will be able to cope if we don't get Harley and cam...

Imo we need to be willing to trade some value and picks to make it happen.

To those that are convinced a contract extension means a player won't be traded don't be so sure. If I'm Freo I would prefer to trade a recently contracted player (if when signing the player it was discussed that a trade to certain agreed upon destinations was a possibility). It gives Freo leverage of not being forces to accept unders while upping the value of said 'required' player. Happens in other sporting codes fairly regularly.

Wouldn't be too surprised (not saying I want it to happen) to see any or a combo of Clarke, croz, Sheridan, Spurr, mzungu traded outs part of a package.

I remember Judgey saying that if Hawthorn want someone from another club they just go and get him.
Except for Gunston who was always coming back to Victoria anyway all those talls were already in Victoria.

No need to move house or change the library card. Just get out of bed and drive to a different location. Successful Vic teams will always have players like that just waiting to jump ship to them.

  • Talented Gold Coast midfielder Harley Bennell was in Melbourne during the week meeting clubs as he moves closer to making a decision on his preferred destination, with Fremantle still a serious contender for his services.
West Coast ruckmen Callum Sinclair and Scott Lycett look set to become an early agenda item when the Eagles ramp up trade discussions on Swans speedster Lewis Jetta and Brisbane Lions midfielder Jack Redden after the Grand Final.
