Think I read in the local paper that he is a Peel guy. Don't hold me to it.

WA's Josh Schoenfeld with the 2nd best beep test of all time - 16.2. #AFLCombine
He's from Rockingham. Just broke the all time 3k record as well.

Looking at his stats he seems to be able to find the ball, at least at colts level - he averages over 20 touches a game. Not short either - listed as 6 foot 2 in the WA under 18's stuff.

Worth a look for sure - seems to be a better, faster version of Brad Hill. Might not be there by the time we have a pick though.....

Plenty of murmurings about Lachie Weller wanting a move to Victoria. Freo and his manager adamant there is nothing in it. #TradeSENtral
Only a matter of time until he goes. If you can package our first pick & Weller for Saints first pick to trade to GWS for McCarthy I would do it.

It's hard to know. Sometimes people just assume players want to go back to victoria to play with their brothers or be with their families. It was constantly said that sheridan wanted to go home to Victoria and he has stayed. I do agree though, if Freo think he is wanting out, we should deal this year.

If he does go, there will be PLENTY of handwringing about not picking up Lever instead of him. Lowest draft pick we've had for a while pissing off to Victoria in his first year is another black mark on our first pick policy or bad luck on our first pick, depending on who you believe.

In this case the end does justify the means .

Not necessarily when you look at what we are acquiring. In any event, the upsides and downsides aren't known for another 4-5 years anyway.

how about Weller and pick 16 for pick 5 and Saints second rounder - pick 23?. On forward the saints second rounder to GC for Bennel and pick 5 to GWS for MCarthy and keep next years first round in a deep draft. our first pick would be around mid 30's this year

Has Fremantle said a thing yet about anything?

Very quiet from the club.
I respect clubs that for the most part do their dealings behind closed doors and don't try to do deals through the media. Shows professionalism imo without the grandstanding that some clubs get involved in

I agree although the journalist in me would like more material coming direct from the source

Got a bad feeling Weller is going (which will have me fuming we took him over a KPP like Lever). Blakely and Langdon have re signed, so you know Weller would of been offered a contract and put it on hold. Have an in depth meeting with him and his manager, sucks to say, but we might be better off trading him this year and get something good for him, rather than less next year. Trading him could help us get McCarthy. I want Weller to stay, so here's hoping he smashes pre season and plays plenty of games in our best 22, as that would help convince him to stay.

How do we know Weller hasn't signed? The club didn't publicise the extension to Alex Pearce last year, sleuthing in a Tasmanian local rag told us that.

I have a theory about this: they only publicise a contract extension when they get the young bloke to front up to the media. If the club or player don't feel comfortable with presenting him to the media, then they don't tell anyone. Weller, because he is ridiculously good looking, copped a bit of (possibly) unwanted attention and the club may have decided to protect him from further exposure. It's only a hypothesis.

Actually not bad. Saints can then use pick 16 pay for Carlisle

Saints get Weller, Carlisle
We get McCarthy, Bennell and keep next years picks
GWS get pick 5

It's all a bit silly that we picked him up if he was forthcoming at the interviews, always going to be a flight risk, but more so because he has a brother running around in another team in Victoria. Temptation to play alongside big bro will always be there, particularly if the price is right. He's also in the right age group for when St. Kilda could be contending again, so the success factor isn't quite as strong.

GWS are the latest club to show interest in Former Cat Steve Johnson according to Channel 7's Tom Browne.;)
Didn't GWS offer Geelong a 1st round pick for Stevie J last year which they refused and a year later they delist him? GWS list manager won't be able to believe his luck if they get him for nix.
