Can't see Sutty going into the midfield unless he add some size to his upper body. Sheridan the same. Have great run though, but tackling really let them down. Bennell is the obvious replacement for someone like De Boer/Suban/Mzungu.
Sutcliffe is an outside mid, his current frame is perfect as is. I also don't see how Bennell is competing with dour role players like Suban et al either.

Not against that at all. But Hill and D.Pearce often go inside and are potent both ways. Hill's work rate is the reason why he has improved every season.Sutty is great defensively, but his weakness is often tackling or getting burnt in the contested ball.
Didn't mean that Bennell will compete with dour role players.. Just clarifying that he ll replace one of them to add more elite. He's not going to replace D. Pearce or Hill's role but adding to the mix at the expense of Suban et al. Will be seeing less of a centre bouncedown combo of Sandi/Mundy/Fyfe/Suabn or De Boer as is often the case. Sand/Mundy/Fyfe/Bennell would be among the best in the league.

Problem is we are limited to 22 players; something is going to have to give.
Like I said elsewhere, this will be a massive test for Ross.
Ross has so much talent at his disposal now. Harley is a massive acquisition.

Play Bennell mid, list as a forward, one short forward, create lots more space for Stephen, Mundy, Harley and Suban to hit our super mobile leading forward.

If it was that simple Freo would have done it this year
We don't have the kicks for it.

Nor the marks, but that is a couple of steps back in causation. If we had the marks we wouldn't have the stoppages up the group so we have the opposition clustered and no space, at least one of our best users (Mundy) getting the ball in congestion and not in transition space.

Are my drugs starting to cut in or was that last sentence straight out of the Magic Roundabout? :)

Yes we do. Defenders are just smarter than you think.
Ours aren't good enough to find loose targets.

Our entire problem can have the crack plastered over if we can land a mark between half back and the wing. They don't make the kick, I watch the end to end footage and we almost always have a forward leading into very open space on the wing and they ignore them until they have to slow to a stop and the defender that was three metres behind is now right beside them and it turns into a 5 deep "contested spoil" for another stoppage.

I think it's a coaching directive, make the easy kick, a 40m loopy shank will turn it over so they don't kick the ball.

Our defense wins the ball back really, really well and then it ends up coming back because we end up with a stoppage and not a mark.
