I disagree...Thought he was poor. 14 goals 10 behinds all season for an "Elite Kick" is poor enough but add to that an average of 2 clearances a game and average of 20 disposals per match and you're not in the top echelon of midfielders. And yes I know he rates well for inside 50's but the quality of that ball can often be very poor.

What clinched it for me was the more than a few occasions where I saw him stream past the left side of one of our defenders (who was stationary with the ball) outside our 50 and looking for an option only for him to be TOTALLY ignored. That showed me his own team fail to see him as a positive outlet.

He does fumble it a fair bit too.

Now don't get me wrong I would go so far as to say his kicking CAN be Elite..but his decision making, occasional panic and consistency particularly with precision passing regularly fail him.

Now we've got Bennell I could see Danyle dropping down the pecking order.
I would have thought quite a few of our players will drop down the pecking order now that Bennell has arrived.
Agree to disagree on Danyle. He isn't Fyfe, but he is very useful when Hill can't get into the game. Have seen just about every Freo player fumble, make poor decsions and mis-kick or be unable to kick to advantage and to handball to the feet or get caught holding the ball or call for the ball and then turn away before it arrives. so not sure why Danyle is the one singled out. He did less of those things this year than last and less of those things than many Freo players this year. So I see that as an improvement and a positive. We can't have a team full of Fyfe's, we would have no cap space.

Where did that insult come from....

I attend every home match and watch every away game on TV, I'm well aware of Pearce's strengths and weaknesses. His strengths far outweigh his weaknesses.

He's been a great servant, consistently in our top 10 B&F and delivers what asked of him, maybe the bombing into F50 is a result of our structure & having no one to kick to rather than himself personally.

I do agree though that he was much better in the first half of the year than the second but so where most of the team.
Sorry didn't meant it to be an insult, just an affirmation that IMO stats don't tell the D Pearce story.

I'm not sure that having Danyle as the Hill decoy is good enough. I've watched him at many (not all) home games and find his desire and drive to be, well, negligible at times. I don't think he's singled out. All of Suban (which incidentally I disagree with), De Boer, Mzungu and even Barlow have copped their fair(or not so) share of criticism on here. It has been pointed out now quite often that opposition coaches don't even tag/mark Pearce anymore.

Agree to disagree maybe...but it's almost a 50/50 with him whether he does something successful with the ball when he gets it. I hate that toin coss type of player.

I don't believe that applied in the second half of the season. That was my earlier argument.
He isn't a Hill decoy, but picks up the slack or takes the lead run and carry, long kick role when Hill can't get into the game. Harley and some of our young guys will most likely do that next year, but that doesn't change my view that Danyle had a pretty good season this year. in my personal opinion.
It is possible if Suban had a slightly more interesting job than blocking for Fyfe the whole game, that he could also offer something in that role as well. However, his apparent inability to play 4 quarters, makes you wonder.

Am I wrong in thinking the whole GWS McCarthy deal will hinge on GWS's need for academy draft points and the number of academy players they will have to bid for ?
Can anyone advise how many academy prospects they have lined up both this and next year, plus how many trading points they now have banked ( after recent trades ) .
This info will tell us whether the McCarthy deal will happen or not - all emotion aside, AFL is a business and players are a commodity, this should be the formula GWS will be working to, simple as that

Agree the 50/50 stuff e.g. turn over then he score a goal or assist kind of even out the game, So when Fyfe and Hills , mundy , neale form drop they look bad and d.pearce stay under the radar , he can even trip himself for you to pity his form.

Just watch his game against N. Melbourne. His ability to play better depend on Hills ability to go another gear. When Hills and Fyfe play well D.pearce play well if they play badly he play worse. Just watch when mundy , fyfe and co not firing you will realise how much d.pearce game depend on them. Then do remind that he is not young bloke e.g. like grey, weller need fyfe or mundy guidance we get him with higher paid also.

That's because he's an outside mid and is dependent on those guys feeding him the ball.

Or his inablility to find it himself.
Or the lack of faith in his teammates to give it to him
I dunno where that came from. He is almost always the outlet out of the left hand side of the field. If anything, I think he is given the ball too much and it gets rather predictable.

According to the GWS posters, they have enough points already for their academy picks. I have no idea if this is correct.

For this year only I wonder ? We can provide the future picks that will give them some sureity next year too. From what I've heard the Dawson Simpson pick gives GWS a second round future pick....
Either way, bondy n co will know the equation and therefore know how hard to push this

from north

On Aaron Black: "Aaron's quite important to our list build. Our talls are ageing at the forward end. We think there's still opportunities for him with us."

They got Dawson Simpson as free agent. They got Adelaide's 2016 second round pick for Curtly Hampton. They might get Collingwood's 2016 1st round pick as part of the Treloar deal. If they need more points next year they'll probably have some players wanting out, if not they can go into debt for 2017.

Only have to go back to the North Melbourne game of this season- Spurr, Johnson, Sheridan were handballing and fumbling the ball like every 5 minutes. It happens to every player, especially Fyfe and Mundy.
At least with Pearce you know he's going to be in the game and try to get the ball forward whereas Hill goes missing for nearly a whole quarter most weeks. If anything, having Bennell will make Pearce/Hill even more attacking.

I'm a firm believer that adding talent should be done at the top of the list, rather than bolstering the bottom. We got a potential steal by slotting Bennell in at number 1/2/3 and now our depth just got better.

I think Harley could become our highest impact player. Like Deledio before the media were over Cotchin and realised why Deledio was getting tagged before him.

Lets see what happen next year, so far pearce play nearly every game we still not yet win a flag, why not remove him for few game and see what happen. No point keep putting him there as we don't know whether is really him or some of us here really against him. No harm to start put a few game into young player into his position as he getting older. Don't wait until all our player retire like mc , pav, and young player not ready and left a gap in his position.
