I wouldn't mind Shulz who at 30 still could be a 40-50 goal forward next year, pretty sure he wants a 2 year deal but Port can only offer 1 year at a lot less. Plus if Shulz came across, I think Freo could squeeze another season out of Pav but with a lot more management. So Pav and Shulz forward line plus persisting with Taberner and resting ruck with one of the best midfields in the competition.

The above would even work if Freo secured Dixon.

Also, I reckon Freo will end up with either Jetta or Yarran.

Just read that Jetta won't be going to the highest bidder either, all depends on fit and whats best for his family. Having said that, after the weekend I don't see WC high on his list.

So even sliding doors on the AFL site jumping on the McCarthy rumours :) I swear some of these reporters read big footy. I have not heard the rumor anywhere else but here

Yup. GWS knew this time would come - that's why they picked him up before us. They don't need him - we do and we will now pay overs for him as he's contracted.

Question is - do we need him that badly.....?

No smoke with out fire, IMO Freo might ask the question of McCarthy manager, he would have resigned for not a great deal, young bloke hasn't played a game then has break out season ,

If you were Mccarthy, you would be pretty disappointed in the club in not allowing you to travel / play in his home state. That's a biggie in young retaining interstate player

He didn't play that badly last week - 3 goals... thought Patton kicked 5 if I remember correctly

would you rather we lose Clarke or Crozier + 1st rounder?
Assuming we keep Weller - would this would allow the fast track of him with Croz gone?
I just don't like the idea of giving up 2 first round draft picks for a first round draft pick, particularly as we have put a lot of development into Crozier.

Clarke I would be more comfortable with letting go but we will have a bit of a hole in our list if he goes - Sandi is 31, Griffin is 29 and Clarke offers more than Hannath as a number one ruck IMO. It's clear that the club wants our ruckmen to be Clarke and Hannath when Griffin and Sandi retire.

Think Sandy is 33 in December

Possibly but the clubs fly the families over a few times a season so it's not like he never gets to see his family.

I just think that the opportunity that he would be presented with at Freo would be enticing for McCarthy also. He would basically be guaranteed a spot in our team straight away, offered a higher pay packet, moving back to his home state, playing for the team he supported as a kid and to a team in a premiership window.

At GWS he isn't getting a game this weekend and that's without Patton even playing, what happens when he returns?

This is all wishful thinking but maybe GWS already know he's going to be traded...

I don't think it'll happen but I really hope it does. I agree the offer we present to him would be incredibly enticing

Yeah its all just rumours and innuendo at this time of the year. Still a lot to play out over the course of the year. Freo have to bite the bullet at some stage for a KPF and they haven't done it at the draft table so now they are going to have to pay overs in a trade, but it has to be done.

GWS probably have McCarthy in the two's to learn other parts of the game. I hope he's started some ripples that he wants out though ;)

Surely not serious? He is a professional footy player...
I see it on social media all the time. Our guys such as Sheridan and Crozier when in Melbourne always post pics of dinner with a few mates while they're there. It's not that weird. I wouldn't think they're going out partying all night and doing pills.
