Imagine if we got Dixon and Schulz though and if Pav went on another year. Schulz, Pav and Dixon as a forward combination, with Ballas and Walters at their feet. Would be a great forward line.
That would be the least defensive forward line we have fielded in a long time.

Schulz makes sense to me.

It reeks of what Lyon did at St Kilda after 2010 by recruiting older players when the premiership window is realistically pretty shut.

I'm hanging out for the "Pods linked to Freo" story.

Out of favour Crows spearhead James Podsiadly is reportedly within Freo gunsights.

Chris Bond is keen to lure Pods out West on a five year, $3.5 million contract.
"I can't believe we're the only team in the race to secure Pods' signature" said Bond today.
"He has a better goals / game career average than Charlie Dixon.
He initially wanted 2.5 but we were adamant it had to be 3.5 or nothing.
We have assured him that we will find Uni placements for his children and organise bingo sessions after every training session.
Adelaide demanded Fyfe in return, something we couldn't accept. We insisted they take Hill as well, it would be a shame to break up the pair..."

Remind me of where the Saints finished while he was there again? My memory was consistently in finals.

But anyway I cannot agree that we are going to go from top of the H/A season to closed premiership window if we replace Pavlich with Schulz. MacPharlin has A Pearce as a replacement, and Sandilands is doing fine, and our midfield will be even stronger.

Our window is shut? Since when? We are currently on top of the ladder with Macca and Sandi playing excellent footy and Pav chipping in with his couple of goals every week. Can't say we are anything like St Kilda 2010. All the best clubs trade in Talents. Hale, Gunston, Gibson, Burgoyne, Frawley, Lake were all risks in a way.

The only way we will know if there's any truth behind a rumour is if Hagdorn says states we aren't interested in a player. When that occurs lick your lips because it's a near certainty! Carlise is still a big shout for this reason!

I can see Pav playing on for one more year too.

I'd take Schulz in a heartbeat. Great Mark, smart on the lead and deadly accurate kick.
It really would be a one year investment by FFC with the second year of his on our list as likely a back up. Age hasn't wearied him from what I've seen.
Ideally my targeting this off season would be( in order of preference and possibility)
Lachie Henderson
Charlie Dixon
Jay Schulz
Jake Carlisle
Aaron black
Cam Mac
Jesse hogan

He has no realistic trade value, and non one else would take him if he was committed to Freo. But if they really wanted to hold out for our 5th rounder, or if they truly want Crowley in a trade, so be it.
Doubt Port would let him go for nothing tbh and highly doubt we'd get him as a delisted free agent. What's the point of Port taking our 4th/5th rounder, may as well make force him into the pre season draft. I still believe he's a required player at Port, I really don't think they'd delist him and make it easy for us. If we want him off to the psd we go.

As for Dixon if it's between us and Brisbane what do they have to offer. Surely they won't give pick 2/3 etc. Perhaps whatever they get for Aish? Anyway if he wants to come to us and we price out every other team we could possibly get Dixon in the national draft. I mean we'd have to trade our first for him anyway so may as well go down that route. We won't be able to use the psd threat with Dixon that's for sure.

Going to PSD would be easy. No one else would take him.

Absolutely would have Shultz on two years. Would be perfect until Ape and Tabbs develop and if Pav goes on next year they would make a potent forward line. He is a serious dead eye dick and with Sonson Ballas Mayne and possibly Black this could work. Look what Hawthorn has done, it's worked for them.
