Didn't GWS offer Geelong a 1st round pick for Stevie J last year which they refused and a year later they delist him? GWS list manager won't be able to believe his luck if they get him for nix.

Bizarre by Geelong if there was any chance it would have been SJ last season.

If Lachie wants to go, he'd probably want to go to St. Kilda because his brother plays there, i think there are three ways the trade could go


If done early in the trade period (If we don't have McCarthy)

Weller + Pick 16 for Pick 5 which we would trade to GWS for McCarthy

If done late in the trade period (If we want a first round draft pick)

Weller+ Pick 16 for Pick 5, which we use on a high profile player

If done late in the trade period (If we want another player)

Lachie Weller for Blake Acres






Blake is originally from Perth, is tall, can play midfield, defence and forward (not sure about the last two, don't quote me on that) and hasn't had many oppurtunitys

Prefer the picks idea. Acres is on about our longest contract and we are mighty hopeful he evolves, he's certainly shown glimpses he could be one of our best.

how about Weller and pick 16 for pick 5 and Saints second rounder - pick 23?. On forward the saints second rounder to GC for Bennel and pick 5 to GWS for MCarthy and keep next years first round in a deep draft. our first pick would be around mid 30's this year

5 and 24 for Weller and 16 (Carlisle) is overs from us. Any deal involving #5 would have to be significantly advantageous to us to part with it. If it happened I would expect 5 for 16 and Weller.

Weller was a first round pick who has 1st team experience and has showed promise. I agree pick 5 should be left for you to secure Carlise because dealing with Essendon is a bitch and you will probably need it.

All the Weller chat is a rumour, the club and his manager have denied it.

This shit happens every year and the gutter journo's never have to be held responsible if it turns out rubbish.

I have no issues with trading him if he wants to move. At this time though I haven't heard anything, and he will be getting heaps of games next year. It really comes down to his GF, if she wants to go back home to QLD, then it won't be the Saints who get him.

The Weller rumours have been around in melbourne for a good 2-3 months now and last year Richmond rated 3 players around the same pick and were really devided in their preferred and finally went with Corey Ellis, The other 2 players were Duggan & Weller

Wouldnt suprise me at all if we were in his ear this year

On my phone, so can't be bothered cutting and pasting but there was a pre-draft article about Weller on the afl site where he says he doesn't care where he goes and he wants to be a one club player. It even says that he pushed for his family to move to the GC because he loved the warmer weather.

Weller's social media hardly reeks of someone who is homesick. He is around great leaders and IMO will stay at the FFC. I think these "rumours" have pretty much originated from BF Saints Supporters.

We are going to trade Crozier who re-signed with us this year? Not likely IMO. Barlow could be traded, but I don't think he will be. Clancee Pearce will be the steak knife to any trade.

It makes sense. We offer big money to one of theirs so they do it to one of ours, worst case it facilitates a player exchange in the trade but good for us he stays
