Have heard Lachie Henderson has told Carlton he is requesting a trade at the end of the season. Interesting part is that the club has decided that since he wants out he won't play the remaining 3 games of the season.

Wonder if we will see more of it in the future.
confirmed - wonder if there will be any implications for player and/or clubs given that it has happened so early. Has this happened before?

Not surprised that blues won't play him - much better putting games into someone who will be around - having said that though, AFLPA may have something to say about not playing someone b/c they are leaving (match payments?).

It would be reasonable to expect that Henderson would have had extensive discussions/a fairly firm agreement with a target club - one wonders how far can that go before the rules get breached?

I would say that's probably the case and has worked it out with Geelong. But also maybe Carlton don't want to play him as they are protecting their biggest trade asset. If Hendo did his knee or something like that in the last 3 rounds his value goes down considerably.

Some of these players are ridiculously unprofessional. Henderson hasn't looked like he's given a shit most of this year, same with Carlisle. Then they want big contracts from their new clubs? I'd tell them to **** off, players with your attitude will never help us win a flag.

Geez I cant remember something like this happening before where even with 3 rounds to go a club announces a player has requested a trade.

It's happened once, but it's the only other time I can think of:

Adelaide announced that in light of negotiating the Suns' offer, Bock, 27, will not train or play for the Crows again for the rest of the season.

Interesting sidenote:

Bock announced he would join the cashed-up Suns in a move Adelaide chief executive Steven Trigg said "stings".
Teehee.

Maybe it's Geelong who's told HIM to step away to protect its own interest ....

lol Henderson, will suit Cats Culture of recruiting for now. Out with established old and in with the new old!

Certainly seems to be backfiring badly, 8 consecutive finals appearances and a chance of a 9th

What do people think of this trade?
Carlton get- Jake Carlisle
Western Bulldogs- Lachie Henderson
Essendon get- Chris Yarran & Nathan Hrovat
Possible picks involved?
Realistic trade?
Essendon need pace & mids, Hrovat not getting games at the Dogs
Carlton get direct replacement for Hendo and
Dogs get a KPD to help out Morris & Roughy

We would actually get Henderson to free up Roughy (so that he can play the ruck/forward role he is suited for). We have thrown big money in the past towards Henderson and whilst today Bev has said it would be a backflip from our end to go after him I think it depends on if/how badly we get smashed by KPFs come finals time. If we do then no doubt we should make a move.

Hrovat is going to be a really good player. He's an inside mid and we have Macrae, Bontempelli, Picken, Dahlhaus, Wallis all playing his role (not to mention Liberatore). He might be squeezed out due to opportunity.

Quick clarification on the future 1st rounders thing, does that mean Brisbane get two 1st rounders in a row, or is it wherever Collingwood finish in 2016 (Say they finish 8th so Brisbane get pick 11)?
Latter is correct. Tied to the club who traded the pick

I think we will see more of this, players who want out of teams leaving before the end of the season. But only in teams out of finals contention

Motlop, Bartel, Enright, Johnson?
Even i f they stay 3 of the 4 get $$ outside the SC on the Vet list. Plus lose Kelly, Hmac, Rivers, Stokes. And we lost Varcoe whom was on far more than he should have been and Bundy was on a slightly lesser deal ( granted we brought in Clark and Stanley) but net net less than Varcoe/Bundy.

Needless to say the SC is there to make several moves. It needs careful management and may not result in all prospects ( no Leuey for example) making it but they should get more than less if they want to come.

johnson and bartel are guaranteed to stay.

danger and luenberger will be on big coin.

theyll be top 4 no doubt
Why would they throw big coin at a 27 year old who has played 95 games in 9 seasons? Don't think he'll get nearly the contract people reckon he will.

400k minimum or else he wouldn't leave.

Add in 1 mil to danger, 250k to S.Selwood and 500k to henderson, thats a big increase.

Hawkins just resigned and selwood would be on a good wicket.

There is zero chance that motlop stays
