400k minimum or else he wouldn't leave.

Add in 1 mil to danger, 250k to S.Selwood and 500k to henderson, thats a big increase.

Hawkins just resigned and selwood would be on a good wicket.

There is zero chance that motlop stays
250k for Scotter? He's an RFA which means he's getting decent coin at the Eagles. Would be 400k at the minimum as the league average is 350k. Not to mention the Eagles would match to force a trade.

AFL.com.au running with Henderson to Geelong as a near cetrainty.

So add Henderson to S.Selwood, Luenberger and Dangerfield

Has someone taken away Geelongs salary cap?
Leunberger won't be coming to geelong!!

Our cap space comes from -

- varcoe was on pretty big $$ (swapped with mitch clark whose on significantly less)

- mcintosh was on solid $$

- SJ close to highest paid player! Either gone or $ will be significantly reduced

- Enright on around 400 - 500 & will retire

- kelly, stokes, rivers added to this & you have some serious cap space

Leuenberger is an injury prone second string ruck at Brisbane, he's not going to get a big contract, especially from Geelong who already have enough injury prone ruckmen.

The rest of the players will cost a lot.

I'm pretty sure other Vivtorian clubs were circling and it's not like we had leverage to pick him up in the psd! 2 1st round picks is was fair considering his injury concerns, Essendon giving us a first rounder for Williams on the other hand was just stupid on their part. In all honesty the deal could have gone either way, burgs could have broke down and port might have drafted better! That's trading, but by no means was it a unfair trade! If free agency was around then
We essentially got Williams, pick 33 and Carlisle for Lovett and Nash. Do that trade every day of the week, even with Williams' dicky knees.

But Burgoyne nominated Hawthorn, taking other clubs out of the equation. Hence the leverage.

Like I said, Hawthorn used their leverage to push through a favourable trade.

Which part of that do you disagree with?

Read he wanted a trade, not the certainty of him being at Geelong
Obviously i know we are being investigated
Doesnt mean we cant trade?

I would think Geelong are the ones that need an even upper in that deal

Ie get carltons 3rd rounder with hendo for pick 10/11/12 whatever it ends up being.

Already gone: McIntosh (on good coin too mind you), Hartman
Going: Rivers, Enright, Stokes, Kelly, Simpson
Playing for peanuts next season and have half their salary outside the cap: Bartel, Mackie, Johnson

We also missed out on Frawley, we traded Varcoe and Christensen who were on decent $$ and are paying under 100% of the cap.

I think we will have ample cap space.

Very flippant remark by me in regards to the cap as you will definitely make it work. Danger will be front or back ended.

I think you might miss out on Luenberger though. Probably not a bad thing really.

The starting 18 is scary looking if you add in S.Selwood, Dangerfield and Henderson.

Henderson will play down back with Harry Taylor. Clark, Hawkins and Stanley as the three main key forwards although Stanley could ruck and Kersten/Walker play that third key forward role.

Looking promising down there once again

Personally, I don't want Luenberger, especially after the McIntosh failure.
Wonder if Clark likes playing VFL footy.

For all of the people talking about us trading any possible first rounder from Hendo straight to Ess for Carlisle, no way.

With a possible 1-2 year ban hanging over his head, I'd rather take him in the PSD and grab a young 18 year KPF talent in the draft.

But you won't be getting him via psd.

If we can convince him to do so, it could happen. It's not like he has any love left for Essendon from what I've read. Unlikely anyone would give what you'd ask for (Ess/Dodoro traditionally difficult to deal with in trades) and given SOS wants us to keep as many firsts as possible - not out of question at all.

On what planet would we take Carlisle if pick 10 is on the table? Plus Hendo and Carlisle have about the same value and that's before you even start talking about potential bans...

Pick 10 is overs for either of them.

I agree its a valid threat to make dons come to the table and be more reasonable than they have been in recent times, but doubt this will happen. Will get deal done IMO, with future picks up for grabs and so many plays going from blues there will be heaps of room to negotiate. late first is what i expect, what the blues get from yarran trade.
