Why couldn't they?
They don't have too many players on there list who would be extremtly well paid except for pendles, side bottom, Swan "veteran" and cloke

Would've freed up a lot of space in there cap when beams left but IMO they don't get aish
All those trades would require picks and or players IMO, I don't see it as a cap issue more of a currency one.

Carlise won't be a first rounder, until the wada process is over then it's a risk for teams to take the players.
2nd rounder and a few sweeteners.
Trelor, first rounder and players plus could be other sweeteners

I don't think anybody is under the illusion that a first round pick alone will land Treloar.
I was more referring to a previous post which implied that Treloar could be had for a first round pick and a swap of 2nd rounders which I would think is quite optimistic

It could work out as (if Scharenberg leaves):

Scharenberg for Port's pick 8/9
On traded to Essendon for Carlisle
Treloar and GWS's pick 28/29 for Collingwood's pick 7/8 and 25/26
Aish for future 1st round pick.

I that would satisfy all parties reasonably.
I would imagine Treloar is worth more than Pick 7/8 and a 2/3 pick upgrade in the 2nd round, just sayin'

I think the reference point for Treloar is Beams.

Pick 7 is roughly similar value as pick 5
Collingwood's 2nd rounder is basically the same as what they got for Beams.
Crisp was also attached to the trade.

Difference is that Beams was contracted and Treloar isn't, and Beams is better than Treloar. So Brisbane having to pay a bit more is fair game. Scharenberg is worth less than a top 10 pick but more than Port's 2nd round pick so unless they find a mid teens pick (which is where I'd put him) they'd have to pay that.

Scharenberg's value is probably similar to Polec's was I'd say. Clearly talented but hasn't been able to show it. Port's second pick would be closer to the mark than their first.

Fair enough call, best outcome for Collingwood would be Scharenberg nominating Adelaide and getting a pick in the teens.

The only way I could see Collingwood getting Carlisle on top of Treloar or Aish is if we trade out one or a few of our players.

Trade bait:

Seedsman - sounding like he could be a part of the Treloar trade.

Kennedy - Kennedy will no doubt find it even harder to break into the side with Treloar and Aish added, so trading him out now while he has some sort of trade value has merit - early 2nd rounder anyone?

Witts - my pick to get Carlisle, but will only consider trading him if we can replace with another developed ruck to assist Grundy - I've heard Kruezer floated around a bit, could work albeit how injury prone he is.

Scharenberg - Can't see him going anywhere with his best mate Aish on the verge of coming here. Been reported that he's currently in negotiations writing up a new contract as of today.

Oxley - I hope we keep him but would have some trade value.

What I'm hoping for haha I can dream...

Pies gain:
Treloar
Aish
Carlisle
Kruezer (FA)
3rd rd pick (GWS)

Pies lose:
Witts
2015 1st rd pick ->GWS
Seedsman ->GWS
2015 2nd rd pick ->Bris
2016 2nd rd pick ->Bris

I like Kennedy but nobody would give an early second rounder for him.
