So does anybody think that the lure of Sydney's universally revered combination of world-class pubs, cocktail bars, traffic and beaches will be able to get this deal over the line?

Only if the deal includes a house in Haberfield or Mudgee.

Huge coup for the Swans if they hang onto him. I've been suggesting Hannerbery might be the most drawn out and a$$ about trade for Franklin since Judas left!

Thought process being you wouldn't be able to hang onto him.

But clearly you have salary space somewhere??!!!

How many cases have there been where the original club absolutely wanted to keep the player? And how many cases have there been where the original club can then afford to match the offer?

Part of the reason we haven't seen a matched offer is because clubs take care to build offers to RFAs that the original team can't afford to meet if the original club wants to retain them (cf: Buddy).
Why would you match the offer ? Player X has chosen another club - It makes no sense to match the offer.

Still has his elbow issue and I can't see him getting back into the best 22 at GWS, although his lucky break might be that Davis and Patful are out for at least 6 weeks.

Would think Essendon's second rounder would be close to the mark. Maybe an upgrade of later picks in GWS's favour if they thought that wasn't enough. Certainly wouldn't warrant a top 15 pick and I wouldn't give pick 15 - 20 for either.
Plowman is deficient below his knees - And not big enough to take number one or 2 tall forward - Has a few limitations in his game.

Can't see alot of clubs wanting either. Bellchambers maybe because he is a ruckman but his form has been putrid. Dempsey will be 28 at the end of the year and has been average also with off field troubles.
Especially seeing T-Bell is on a big contract. He will get offers but will have to reduce his demands.

Shattered to hear this because I'd have liked to think Roosy could have gotten him to the Dees, but it's always best to see players stay in the non-traditional footy states. Now how about letting one of Dunkley or Mills come to us? :p
I'd have a crack at Craig Bird if I was the Dees, you've already got enough highly rated kids running around. Can't get a game at.the.moment with Mitchell having pushed him out, but Is an under rated player, and would bring a high degree of professionalism with him. A few good years left in him too.

It's no done deal yet, but it it looks like we're trying to maximise our cap by offering longer contracts to our key future players at a lower yearly rate. With Rance getting 4 years, longer contracts for youngish quality look like it's where things are heading. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Why would he have considers the Dees? Roos finishes up at the end of next year. He wouldn't have been coached by him again?

If you believe you can get more back in a trade than the compo pick. Though the more likely scenario would be an associated sweetheart deal on the side to not match.

Mills I doubt will be going anywhere. Dunkley, no clue where he will end up til nominations come through

no way swans can be under the cap buddy over a mil tippet 800k then there's kennedy, parker, hanneberry,McVeigh, jack, goodes, mitchell and there offering hannerberry 4 to 5mil
Swans run a senior list of 38, Tigers have 41. That's a difference of 3 Players, which just paid for Tippo and Hannebery without even trying. learn to list manage.

Wouldn't come close to one of those two annual salary. There's a rort going on up there across the boarder and the AFL are just sitting on their hands doing squat! That second set of books will be found one day.........
