Swans are no chance of getting McGovern. We could get Eagles first or second rounder for Jetta. Could ontrade that to Gold Coast. 1st rounder directly or Bird + 2nd rounder.

Gold Coast won't need low draft picks, they'll have pick 3 (maybe 4 if the BS Krezuer compo goes through), the Dixon pick (very likely PA's pick 10/11) and the end of 1st round Ablett compo pick they got from Geelong for Caddy.

So they'll have picks 3/4, 10/11, 19/20 and I'm reasonably informed those are the 3 picks they're going to use. Giving them pick ~15-18 (WC pick) won't help them that much (they'll move up only 1-4 spots).

They'll use one of those picks to get a mature player (probably 18-20), so giving them 15-18 isn't the worst idea. Bennell won't come cheapish, but he still demands something good in return.

Considering the club has said we're trading you no matter what, they'll take anything reasonable for him, which presents itself with a lovely opportunity to dump the out-of-favor Bird on them, considering next season he won't get a look in, unless our midfielder depth is severely depleted. McGlynn is ahead of Bird, as a tagger, ball winner and forward.

Would be stoked to land bennell, cannot see it happening to be honest. Other clubs will offer more
Essendon, with Dodoro in charge, will never get anyone of substance. Bloke is stubborn, as seen with the Ryder situation. No doubt he'll demand pick 1 for Carlisle.

So what do people think would get a hypothetical bennell deal done. Only player we can really offer is bird+ next years 1st pick...wouldnt think it would be enough

Firstly, I highly doubt the club is pursuing Bennell. There is nothing to suggest we are.

Secondly, he would be one of the best players at our club and the best we can offer is an end of first round pick and a tagger who would struggle to get a game at the Gold Coast? Have to do a hell of a lot better than that, people just don't want to offer anyone halfway decent.

All true. But you may be underestimating how much GCS want him gone. If he was untainted, performing well and asked for a trade, the club might fight harder. But with Dixon leaving, they may have other fish to fry this trade period?

If we were to assume the club does want him, are able to secure him given the trade restrictions, and you were making the decisions, would you give up the opportunity to secure Josh Dunkley to get Harley Bennell? Dip into next year's draft picks to secure him? I'd be happy to. I wouldn't give up the opportunity to get Mills, but Dunkley I would.

Otherwise, I'd be willing to give up a combination of draft picks and any of Jake Lloyd, Craig Bird, James Rose, Toby Nankervis, Dan Robinson, George Hewett, Xavier Richards, Dean Towers (who wouldn't?) to get Bennell.

Our 2016 first rounder, Craig Bird and Jake Lloyd for Harley Bennell and perhaps their 2016 2nd rounder is a pretty good deal to me. I'd be sad to see Lloyd go and I think he's a good player but I'd do it in a second to get my hands on Bennell.

In a heartbeat. The NEAFL players you listed are not fit to scrub Bennell's boots, let alone be mentioned as fair trade currency for him.

I don't think Bennell is worth the farm. He has a genuine risk profile. GCS are effectively sacking him mid contract here.

No way we'd offer Lloyd and Bird and a pick on a speculator. Personally I wouldn't offer Lloyd at all. Is their 2nd rounder worth losing that development we've put into him?

Keeping in mind that GCS are getting rid of him no matter what, they've automatically lowered the trade value for him relative to what they'd get for him if a club was trying to trade for him 12 months ago.

It's a speculator on his mindset really. His ability is unquestionable. He's a stud.

If I was the Swans, I'd back my history of getting the best out of players and go hard for him and if it took Lloyd to make the deal happen, I'd do it in a second.

I think a serious reality check is needed here. Jake in his wildest dreams couldn't do anything Harley can do

Then the club takes the 1st rounder and uses it on someone like Schoenmakers or Carlisle/
McGovern is an absolute no chance of going for Jetta, like 0! Carlile wants plenty of cash and I got a bit of good oil that he is going to Carlton for $800k per season.
Shoenmakers is an complete spud, do not want. craps himself at any sign of pressure, not a good trait for a KPD.

Jesus, talking about Lloyd, Bennell in the same sentence is just ridic. Either some people are massively over rating our players or massively under rating Bennell or both, I suspect the latter. Bennell is a freak!!

His talent in undoubted. I've been quietly spruiking for him on this board for the last couple of days.

But the due diligence would have to be pretty brutal. GCS have been living that highlights show reel for years, and they are the ones sacking him.

If GCS were happy to deal with us, I'm sure any trade would be equitable. We're very fair in that regard. But if they play hardball we would be thinking very carefully about this trade.

Lloyd for Bennell is a no brainer. But would GC go for it with picks to even it up?
