Without agendas Mills should comfortably slide in the 15-20 range but he wont.
Golly.

Thats a laugh.

Mills was objectively seen as better than hyena. Heeney was on a games played basis the rising star. its inconceivable that anyone would think he wasn't a top ten. I agree he could slide but only if you think other players have lifted or you think his injury has risked his future.

Players who are great as 16/17 year olds can and do slide. Tom Swift was considered the best 16 year old in the country, for example.

To be fair to Swift no one expected him to do an ACL the minute the carnival ended and then have knee issues from then on. He was absolutely elite as a junior

What i mean is early prospects who generally miss a lot of football always end up sliding.

Last year, Jake Lever, gun KPD as an under ager considered top 3 for last years draft then misses U18 year with an ACL slips to a very happy Adelaide with pick 14. Has proven in his first year of senior football that the top 3 ranking was probably justified just that the injury slid him down the order.

Mills is slightly different because a club can bid higher than where he should go after the injury ravaged year he's had but won't actually have to use that pick knowing we will take him anyway. Carlton, Brisbane, GC should all do the right thing but Essendon are the kinda tools that will bid early.

Some blockbuster trades going on this year. Bennell could "slip" to us. 6-8 clubs so far seem to be out of the race for his services. We could possibly be the lucky or unlucky one to make a deal happen. In any sense if he does go to another club and other trades do happen this could allow us to retain Jetta.

Jettas asking price should be relatively high although there are other trades to happen first.

IMagine Jetta and Bennell waxing from each other, greased lighting ball movement.

The best news is that Treloar will nominate collingwood...you could see it a mile away that they will bid on Mills just because of Eddie. Can't see Essendon bidding, they want Parish or Curnow. In fact they want both in an ideal world I would assume.

Can see mills sliding to around pick 10 before a bid is entered.

Inside Footy have their latest phantom draft update in this weeks issue, not good news I'm afraid :-( Their top 11 stays the same since a couple of months ago, rankings have changed a little. A couple of players bolting up the order after pick 11 on the back of good TAC Cup form post championships. So the bad news is

1. Weitering KPD (Carlton pick 1)
2. Schache KPD (Brisbane pick 2)
3. MILLS - WTF? (will cost our 1st pick plus)
4. Hopper mid GWS Academy (will cost their first pick 8)
5. Parish mid (Gold Coast pick 3)
6. Curnow utility (Essendon pick 4)
7. Francis utility (St.Kilda pick 5)
8. Kennedy mid GWS Academy (will cost pick 7 they get from Pies for Treloar)
9. Hipwood 200cm utility Brisbane Academy (will cost mid teens pick they get for Aish)
10. Mathieson mid (Melbourne pick 6)
11. McKay KPF (Geelong pick 9)

As I keep saying, hugely interesting trade period and national draft, how much more exciting will the slow moving slightly boring ND telecast be??

He might collectively ranked at 3, but it will then come down to how each club rates him and whether they are looking for a mid, utility or key position player and if the state of residence is a factor.

Also need to factor in what the other clubs is doing with their Academy and F/S picks as well.

I can see him being around the 5 to 10 mark, with St Kilda a fit for a midfielder.

Im amazed at some the poll results. More people would prefer to see Will Minson traded in than Zac Clarke.
