With all these trades and FA going on this year and all those trades being near top end talent how are we looking at getting any one of those guys? I can see somewhat of a domino effect of sorts happening.

Redden to west coast
Aish to collingwood? St kilda?
Treloar to collingwood
Carlisle to st kilda? Carlton?
Henderson to geelong
Dangerfield to geelong
Selwood to geelong
Yarran to tigers
Freeman to st kilda
Melksham to north? St kilda?
Hall to north?
Kreuzer to collingwood
Leuenberger to swans? Bulldogs?
Macarthy to freo
Dixon to port
Shulz to freo
Scharenberg to adelaide
Suckling to brisbane? Gold coast?
Tom bell to gold coast

Now im not saying that those are set in stone but its what is highly publicized and also what i think will play out.
I have deliberately left bennell out because i think he may genuinely go to us or for some god forsaken reason the hawks. And that is the sort of domino effect i am talking about.

Speculative i know but it could work. So many A grade and B+ grade players moving this year that i think we may somehow get a ripper trade happening.

Don't discount our recruitment management we always pull a rabbit out of the bag.

That would be a ripper of an off season considering the trade restrictions.
You look at the rest of the top 4's forward lines.

Wce-kennedy,darling,lecras, hill all natural forwards

Hawks - roughead, gunston, bruest, rioli all natural forwards

Freo-mayne,pav,ballantyne,walters all natural fwds.

Syd-franklin natural forward. Thats it. Everyone else is makeshift. Only one player who could blindly turn and have a legitimate shot at goal. We have no goal awarness in our side.

I know we need ruck and kpd, but most kpd's are failed forwards. A good forward with natural instincts are hard to find. We need another gifted specialist forward if we want to compete with the best

We don't have many natural goal-kicking forwards but over exaggerating a bit? Some of ours aren't as accurate, but they have very similar records to those guys..not including the misses, which means they generate more shots at goal than some of those guys.
You don't kick 462 goals in 371 games or 299 goals in 151 games without having a fair bit of ability as a forward.
Also if Mayne counts as one, McGlynn does to (very similar records) as would Reid.

Here's mine in order of priority/desire:
1. Mills.
2. Bennell.
3. Suckling.
4. Leuenberger.
5. Stevic J.

BTW, what's happening with Shoenmakers? Has he signed yet?
Afaik still unsigned. Id take him if he wanted to come but most hawks supporters seem to think he is a more natural forward.

For me:

1. Mills - Have to see how the points fall on him, but must get
2. Zac Smith - young ruck/forward
3. Suckling - replaces Shaw off half back

Then hit both the drafts for needs. Pity there is no KP Defender available at a cut price

I don't share this fervour to recruit Matt Suckling. He's way more than suspect defensively (and given his age, he isn't a sure thing to be able to rectify that, Malceski did it at roughly his age but that wasn't a sure thing either) and I think his kicking is made to look a lot better by being in a great team.

I just don't buy that his kicking is sustainable in a team that isn't as dominant as Hawthorn has been. I don't even buy that his kicking is that consistent, in fact. It looks cool and when he pulls off a 50m dart that goes barely 4m off the ground it's stunning, but I've seen him scrub a hell of a lot of pretty straight forward disposals. Enough to dissuade me from giving him the money he's rumoured to be in line for certainly.

I know you're joking, but to take the idea of replacing Shaw seriously for a second, I'd take Shaw defensively over Suckling any day of the week. And I'd take Shaw's willingness to run and give absolutely everything, every time he is on the field over Suckling's running forward, quasi-defending too.

I'd rather Zak Jones was just moved straight into Shaw's role next year. Seems like a perfect replacement to me. He has the same kind of pace, seems like he could develop the same kind of iron-willed desire that Shaw has displayed and keeps his head with the ball in his hand pretty well to me. I've actually been really impressed with how often he hits targets under pressure so far. He makes dumb mistakes (some of the 50m penalties he's given away this year have been pretty unforgiveable), but I'd back Jones to nail down Shaw's spot very quickly if given the opportunity.

Can we get Biggs?
He seems a perfect replacement for Shaw.

But seriously.
What about XR, Allir and Davis? That's the cheapest and simplest way forward.
I don't anticipate we'll see Aliir on our list for 2016.

Richards has another year and I think is seen as possibly capable of being around long term, but he needs injuries (like Ted got in 2010 to solidify his place in the side) to get a chance. If Alex Johnson recovers in the same way that Dan Menzel did late in the year, he'll fly past Richards too.

Abe Davis seems to be being groomed as a big-bodied midfielder/wingman or forward rather than a defender.

Can Allir move into the ruck Geelong / Goodes style?

He has a great spring, great hands and his athleticism could be a huge advantage around the ground.
