I like the idea of moving Aliir either into the ruck or forward (if he's actually on the list next year). In those final few reserves matches, each time he was swapped forward for McLaren, he looked really mobile, dangerous and pretty natural too.

I don't think he's anywhere near a sure thing to be still with us in 2016, but if he is I'd love to see him tried as a forward/ruckman for the entire year.

We need to replace 3 senior, best 22 players next year - Shaw, Goodes and Jetta. Who will we bring in to replace them? Leuenberger and Mills have been discussed, and if we get the latter we will have minimal trade currency to acquire anyone else.

Note these need to be players outside of BJack, Jones, Towers etc who are already playing games and already form part of the 26-30 regulars you need to get through each season.

Jack watts??jarrod grant???
Watts could be worth a gamble. You don't lose the ability to kick, and we need more guys that can kick. The question is what position...is he a forward? Mid? 3rd tall defender? That is the big question.

Zero interest in Grant, as soft as anything and would be a average signing at best.

Id play him rotating through the wing or half back. The best thing about signing a watts is that we do not need him to be a star like the dees do. We need him to be a role player and thats it. Another advantage is that he is capable of playing anywhere if injury strikes. Would be great to cover virtually and position on the field

Sort of an Everitt type I think.

Don't agree with this thinking. That is what has hurt Watts at Melbourne. He needs to play 1 position and that is it. I would almost just say to him, you are playing off the HFF or the HBF and leave him there. That is it. Reminds me a lot of Sam Reid, eventually we have given him a pretty set position this season and he was very good before his unfortunate injury.

Agree with that though I am not sure Longmire is capable of it.

Watts is 196cm, a good reader of the ball, and a great kick. We should do what we did with Ted, and recruit him as a KPD, and just teach him the role. He has the talent, just needs the right leadership and coaching.
Won't be a true KPD/KPF for that matter. He really is a tall midfielder for arguments sake. He plays basically as an outside mid in his mind. I wouldn't mind replacing Shaw with Watts though. You can't have enough blokes who can kick. Would try and play Watts in a position that is outside a true KP post though, it suits his game.

I'd be for this...seems like just the sort of player we need.

I sometimes wonder whether these rumours are usually just people typing wishlists into BF threads, though.
To be fair this 'rumour' has been going since the start of the year. Most rumours usually only last for a week or two. Makes me think this may happen and it makes sense, Dogs clear space, we get a defender for next season.
