Surely we try to trade for a player! points really dont matter that much, we can always trade back into next years draft.
Depends how many points in deficit you are talking, you would not want to be 1000 points in deficit basically trading yourself our of 2016 which is from all reports a much stronger draft.

Surely Bird going (2nd rounder), and Jetta (first round or possibly a KPD +player) is enough.

With the discounts, the fact that dunkely isnt a lock and the possibility of Mills to drop to pick 4/5 i think compo for bird will be sufficent (and maybe a late one or package Jetta/marsh to WCE for a defender and a late pick for points)

If we lose Marsh I will NOT be happy to say the least. Can see him doing a good role for us over the next period.

I have seem him quite a few times now, think he is a solid depth player, but not super special and as a 3rd tall down bacl (v laidler and rampe) or a tall mid he seems like he is behind alot of players to play seniors, I wouldnt mind loosing him if we helps us keep under negative points.

He won't get us many points and I feel he is a bit better than what you are giving him credit for. Laidler isn't young either, he isn't old but he isn't young either.

Here's how I reckon it might go.

Jetta to West Aust for pick 15/16 (1067 points). That plus our pick 18 (at worst for drafting purposes) gives us 2052 points.

Mills is bid pick 5 and therefore costs 1673 points. We still have 379 points.

Melbourne give us pick 22 for Bird (845). This presumes the draft depth is poor as is stated. This leaves us with more than the 1116 points Dunkley would cost us at pick 10.

I think we come out of that looking pretty good although our game plan will need to change without Jetta.

So, in effect, pick 18, Jetta and Bird for Mills and Dunkley.

Dunks apparently wants to stay in Victoria but as it stacks up, there are a couple of clubs in the middle there that could draft him and he may take the F/S option rather than risk a GWS or Adelaide result. If Richmond were to drop to 7th or 8th it might be different.

HAhaha agreed with this part!!!

If port finish 9, crows 8 and GWS 7 and tigers in top 6 then there is a good chance he nominates.

If picks 10-16 are North, Geelong, Richmond, Pies, WCE, Hawks then we are in trouble

Is it draft tampering to have a player nominate and agree not to match bids from certain clubs?

So we say to Dunks, "You nominate and if Richmond bid, you can go but if Port or GWS bid, we'll match them."
Anything that alters the drat is tampering, so yes it is. That is the last thing we want to do with Eddie being Eddie south of the border!

There is little chance that Dunks jnr won't be a Swan.

Gee i hope Brayden Fiorini gets injured in the year so we can draft him with a late pick. Doubtful but... :(
Why? Last thing we want to draft are more blokes with injury issues if he got injured. I would rather him smash it and do what is best for him. If we miss him so be it

Just the off chance we might get a quick outside mid with elite foot skills.

We don't need one that has injury issues period we have enough of them. You want to punt on one someone like Morabito could be worth a gamble. Our first 2 picks are already gone if he is that elite he will go early

Hey guys with jetta maybe wanting a trade home what is the realistic value you put on him at the trade table ?
If it is a late first round would you be happy if you got multiple later picks with the same point value ?
Say a 2nd and two 3rd rounders .
It wouldn't really matter if you are using the picks for academy bidding .
