I think KPDs can get away with being super athletes without much ball reading ability, as long as they can notice their man on the lead and beat them they don't even need to be able to mark.

Obviously those that can mark are a step above but if your whole job is to stop someone else influencing play, and that person is dictating your required effort then it's not as tough to find an athlete for the role.
Taylor your description sound like the person we hadtabener, can't really mark but can go with player.

Hi Chris25 how about the medium tall / 3rd tall types both fwds and backs that you like around our 1st pick or later in the draft?

Himmelberg and Burton are probably the pick of the medium tall forwards, and both could be gone by our first pick. I'd certainly pick them well inside the first round. It's a bit light on for forwards after that - Matthew Allen and Callum Moore are taller, but both look better suited to playing as third talls and would be options come our second pick. Outside of them, it's really just rookie draft options.

Down back, Bonner and Hibberd are your attacking medium talls and should feature somewhere in that 15-25 range. Not sure we really need them? Even if they have elite disposal. Brandon White is a similar player, maybe in the second or third round. But again, they are all around the 190cm mark at best.

It would seem all the top KPP's and 3rd tall forwards will be gone by our 1st pick and my feeling is that we need some 3rd tall defenders as we don't really have any outside of Ibbo and Johnson so I wouldn't mind that type at our 1st pick.

Another question do you know how the KPP's performed endurance wise at the combines?

Ideally Ethan Hughes continue to develop into that Ibbotson type player, but we don't really have that Johnson replacement. I do think it's a decent year for defenders though, so we should have the chance to take one or two. Even the likes of Callum Moore and Dylan Smith potentially project better as defenders, even though they have played predominantly as forwards. Moore could be a guy to have develop under Johnson for a couple of years, he's quite raw and very quick for his size.

Endurance wise, it was the 'big names' who performed well - Weitering, Curnow, Hibberd. There weren't really any of the mid/late round picks who really stood out. Jesse Glass-McCasker did well in the agility and leap testing, so he'd be one to watch.

An MJ replacement is going to be tough to find. He's quite unique, I'm struggling to think of any similar players to him in the whole league.
If we could get some Spurr toughness into Jack Watts they could be similar framed users of the ball but I can't bring myself to suggest that as a possibility.

A key position height, small moving and gun using (mostly) it's no wonder he was called one of the most talented players of his year.

Hibberd, Bonner or Harry McKay with our first pick.

Smith, Adams or Yarran with our second.

Bootsma with our third.

If we use a fourth Jack Agostino.

We have too much depth in the high half forward/ mid as is to take best available if a good one comes up at 22.

Surely we bid on Himmelberg with 22, not sure if GWS can cover his points? or go tall with a McKay (or anyone).

If Kersten is not contracted and is at all unhappy, then put a better deal to him and see if it pushes him into the PSD.

Look for tall running defender/s and Mason Shaw with a late pick (is any different to big Jack?)

Re-rookie Moller again and develop.

I quickly put together a draft until our first pick, including Academy bids. Keep in mind, it's my ratings. So someone like Harry McKay will no doubt be in the top 20, I just don't like him that high...

1. Carlton - Jacob Weitering
2. Brisbane - Josh Schache
3. Melbourne - Darcy Parish
4. Sydney - Callum Mills*
5. GWS - Jacob Hopper*
6. Essendon - Sam Weideman
7. Essendon - Harley Balic
8. Gold Coast - Ryan Burton
9. Melbourne - Aaron Francis
10. Carlton - Jade Gresham
11. Adelaide - Mitchell Hibberd
12. Carlton - Charlie Curnow
13. Richmond - Darcy Tucker
14. Adelaide - Kieran Collins
15. St Kilda - Wayne Milera
16. Brisbane - Ben Keays*
17. Hawthorn - Clayton Oliver
18. GWS - Matthew Kennedy*
19. Gold Coast - Thomas Cole
20. North Melbourne - Riley Bonner
21. Brisbane - Eric Hipwood*
22. Hawthorn - Callum Ah Chee
23. Carlton - Rhys Mathieson
24. Western Bulldogs - Aidyn Johnson
25. Western Bulldogs - Nick Coughlan

26. GWS - Harrison Himmelberg*
27. Fremantle - Sam Skinner

So I have us bidding on Himmelberg, and then selecting Sam Skinner - he's a 197cm, 96kg defender/forward from Vic Country. He injured his knee right at the start of the U18 Championships and missed the rest of the year. Before the injury he was rated around the 20-30 mark, maybe his stock has been lowered by the injury but I'd be happy to go early and take him with our first pick - he's my pick of the talls outside of the top 4. Generally considered to be more of a tall defender, but Leigh Brown is the coach at Gippsland and thinks he is better suited to the forward line. He has strong hands, can throw his weight around and tackles well too.

Nice job, thanks.

Himmelberg is rated very highly and will unlikely be touched as he's in the GWS academy, even then I'm pretty sure they have bucket loads of point for all the low pick trades

Little bit off subject but one thing I've always wondered about why has freo or wce not got an academy? The east coast does and they're hardly any different? Even if it could only feature kids from the country... Would be well worth it

Because the AFL won't let us.
