If we going for mid in draft , will we draft Ryan Clarke ? Look like another fast player. I hope freo pick mid if good tall not available, then we got chance to trade with club with less skillful mid with tall, no point pick tall and delisted them one year later.

We do have other needs. We'll need a small forward and a couple of medium defenders in a few years. I'd rather try and draft for those needs if the talls available are too risky. When was the last time we traded a player for a decent pick or a player for a player. I can't think of anyone since Warnock.

Do people really think the talls are too risky in this draft? Is it any more risky than us heading in to the 2016 season without much KPP depth? What if we were to get injuries to two of A.Pearce, Dawson, and Johnson? We are already going to be managing Johnson as it is. I suppose we do have Silvagni but not much else. And similarly with our forward line. I think there a handful of solid potential KPPs in the draft that might slot in nicely and will likely be available at our picks. I just don't get why we would bother too much with midfielders or sml defenders/forwards this draft because we do at least have some depth in those areas. KPP options I am liking (at various picks) are Himmelberg, Glass-McCasker, Skinner, Moore, Adams, Coughlan, Hartley. Not much of a fan of B.McKay or Allen, Burton maybe too risky for us and if Collins is still available at our first pick I will eat my laptop. Suspect we will have at least 4 live picks - surely 2 or 3 of these should be KPPs?

I see it pretty much the same. But if an outstanding player is still available at our pick that all changes.

There is a bit wrong here, the kids 20, 100 plus kilo and played most year wafl reserves. IMO as slow and lack of agility as Hannath has he's far better than Cameron. At best he could be rookie listed but I don't see afl in this kid. I believe Appness will be the forward ruck of the future and Clarke the main ruck.

Just Cameron test results at the state screening, they're very average, nearly last in all areas.

Dylan Smith sounds good. A running KPD is exactly what we should be chasing - more likely to get a decent one at our pick and can release AP forward or provide much needed depth for MJ and Dawson short term. Still also like Marcus though

Dylan Smith has played mostly KPF and I think that is where he is best suited - See Quigley's review in the draft section. One of him or Allen or Adams would be good. Still would prefer Burton with the first pick but as I think Mick Jagger and Keith Richards said you can't always get what you want.

But if you try some time you get what you need. ;)

But if you start him up, if you start him up he'll never stop.

Most of the key forwards at our picks will be very speculative. The one exception is Burton. Really hope he falls to us.

On the other hand I think Glass-McCasker just seems like the sort of KPP we'd draft. Most of our talls we've drafted have been elite runners for their size (Taberner, Pearce, Vandeluer, Hurley etc).

Hopefully both slide to our first/second rounders respectively and we can also grab a mature aged defender later on. It'd make me very happy about this year's draft.

Sam Landsberger of the Herald Sun and Paige Cardona of Footy Prophet both have us taking Tom Cole with our first pick.

Can't link in the Herald Sun article.

27. FREMANTLE
Tom Cole (Bendigo Pioneers)
H: 185cm W: 76kg
Midfield/halfback
Played in most positions but hurt teams most coming out of defence. Improved sharply this year and a low-maintenance kid, which will appeal to Ross Lyon.
The twist: The Dockers would love to go tall but who’s left? If GWS academy player Harrison Himmelberg is available expect Fremantle to try and jag him here.

Footy Prophet - http://footyprophet.com/paiges-afl-phantom-draft-edition-three/

27: Fremantle – Tom Cole
Height: 185cm, Weight: 76kg, DOB: 28/08/1997
Recruited from: Bendigo Pioneers
Range: 20-40
Position: Medium Defender/Midfielder
A raging bull of a defender/midfielder who likes to set the tone early in his aggression. Quite a rugged player who shows passion and pride for the jumper, and rarely has his colours lowered. A talented user of the ball by hand or by foot, and has shown he has tremendous versatility in his game to play an array of positions. Took the step-up to VFL level with ease with Geelong and didn’t look out of place. A combative role-player who goes about his footy with a competitive and fierce edge.

39: Fremantle – Jesse Glass-McCasker
Height: 198cm, Weight: 95kg, DOB: 03/01/1997
Recruited from: Swan Districts
Draft Range: 25-40
Position: Key Position Defender/Forward
Tall, strong defender who plays predominately as a stopper. Covers the ground well, and has a sturdy athletic profile. Has shown he can swing forward and provide a target deep forward, and looms as a designated swing-man at AFL level. Positions himself nicely in a one-on-one battle, isn’t shifted under the ball and times his leads nicely. Isn’t afraid to take a mark in defence and conversely up forward he is good overhead. Really rate his spoiling game, and his ability to drop off his man to kill a contest elsewhere. Has the agility of a midfielder.

53: Fremantle – Matthew Allen
Height: 193cm, Weight: 92kg, DOB: 19/02/1997
Recruited from:
Draft Range: 40-60
Position: Key Position Forward
Bullocking key forward who isn’t afraid to throw himself into a pack as if he were going human ten pin bowling. Run’s in straight lines like a freight train and strikes an imposing figure as a lead-up forward. Uses the footy well by foot, win’s critical one-on-one battles and is a strong mark overhead. Some believe Allen could gravitate into the midfield as a tall midfielder as he continues to develop – and it’s certainly not beyond him. Really rate his ceiling in terms of future development.

Cole
JGM
Allen

Would be a fairly good outcome. Apparently clubs are very divided on JGM so it'll be interesting to see how our guys rate him. Allen had a good champs and in one game beat Keiren Collins. A left footer who looks and plays like Jack Riewoldt. Would appear to be a bargain at 53.

If you read Quigley's rating of this year's draft, there are shit loads of talls that we can take, it's just a matter of which one we rate the highest.

I tend to think Dylan Smith is best suited as a KPD. I don't think he's dominant enough as a forward, he's a bit like Matt Taberner - has some AFL level attributes, but not the overall package to be the main guy. But down back, I like his athleticism and strong hands overhead.

I do suggest having a good read of Quigley's whole draft. He's the only draft watcher on BigFooty that I put any real stock in.

Seems to be a heck of a lot of KP options in this draft. Michael Hartley sounds like a winner...

I really like this draft for tall defenders. It's why I don't understand why a club would reach on Ben McKay so early - I'd much rather any of Glass McCasker, Smith, Skinner, Surman, Firns, Buykx Smith, Gardiner, Coughlan. There are so many young defenders who could be had late or as rookies. And then you have the mature aged guys - Hartley, Keough, Adams, Brown.

It's just tall forwards is where it's lacking. For us, I'd be looking at the sort of 190-194cm forwards like Allen, Moore and Himmelberg. Maybe someone like Jordan Dawson as a shorter option. No project 200cm talls for me.

Thoughts on Callum Moore, Chris? Looks lightning fast and really goal hungry for a 193cm prospect.

He's one I like in the second and third rounds. Was almost drafted by Sydney last year on the back of hardly any TAC Cup games. As you say, quick and athletic for his size. Can create mismatches with his unique skill set. Something like a Tom Lynch from Adelaide as the third tall, high forward.

Although having said that, some think he could be developed as a defender. A little like Jono Marsh from Collingwood, similar strengths and weaknesses.

Callum Twomey is putting up his Phantom Draft tonight if anyway likes his drafts.

Also Chris, what's your thoughts on Lachlan Tizani, he's 189cm and I really like the guy, would there be any chance that Freo might bid on him on draft night?
