I wonder if any of the delisted players are being sounded out to play for the 2's next year. I assume most of them will get better offers
Matty Dea lining up for Williamstown 2016.

I like Arnott, got plenty of mongrel in him, won't fall over in a gentle breeze, penetrating kick, why did they let him go ?

Terrible decision maker, poor discipline, average skills.

Deal breaker was the haircut.

I see the Trade Period as an opportunity to improve the list, and also be a time that we could have lost players (Free Agency, poached or traded).

Retention 5/5 - The only players we lost were due to retirements, or players that had little or no impact on this season
Recuitment 3/5 - No big fish. We threw the line out, but lost our bait. Yarran will be good for us. Not sure on Townsend / Moore, but they are what we needed. Drafting Rioli was a good outcome, Markov looks promising and the rest are speculative, but fill the needs.

8/10 - I'm happy we didn't fall for the hype around Treloar or Bennell. Retention was just as important as improving the list - and we have done well - The list appears to be stronger. Admittedly I wish Foley and Newman were 10 years younger and still on the list..

what we wouldn't give to be Drafting Richo now.....

Couldn't get the footy at AFL level.
wasn't tearing the VFL a new one either....

Could you imagine a 27yo Richo on the wing? Yarran/Houli/Vlas out of the backline to Richo on the wing, streaming forward to Reiwoldt/Vickery with Edwards/Rioli at their feet.

Throw in Leon Cameron in his prime too ;)

TBH i'd love Coughlan back at his best right now, inside beast.

I love Cogga, but to be honest, I don't think we ever really got to see his best.

With so many developing players on our list and rookied i think its going to be very hard next year and years after to decipher which players to axe...

The past 2 years we have seen retirements and delisting some obvious types (Gordon, Arnott IMO), other than big Ivvy and Chappy we don't have many other older folks so we will need to make some calls on some younger guys/kids to ensure we delist the 3 as required each year..

Very happy with the rejuvenation of our list, just means we have really changed the composition of our list last few years!

Maybe this means we can trade players out for picks in return rather than just delisting.

Yeah absolutely, see this as a good opportunity.

We have improved our list yet with a huge amount more upside... In saying that if a number of these X factor (C.Moore, Chol, Menedue, even guys like short, George, beanie etc) kids don't realize their potential it could be argued our list has gone backwards.

Either way exciting times and the mindset come end of year will have to be different due to list age and development etc..

Apart from Turdloar picking eddies muppets over us, it looks to have been a good summer of change. He (turd) is a ball magnet in the same vein as Hannerbury, so would have been a great addition to our mids.
Let's see how our new boys go when the real stuff starts, but I'm tipping Townsend will provide some grunt we need.

Not lost too much quality compared to the talent that we have brought in. When you also factor in the improvement in most of the other players our list, we now have a stronger team and squad that compared two seasons ago. We should be able to compete with the big boys for a top 4 spot next season.

Not sure the 'ins' at the moment mean we are a top 4 team. The improvement of our current best 22 have shown they are. From those 'ins' which players are a top 4 player, disregarding that horrible 'P' word?
Yarran.
Hunt?
?
Don''t get me wrong, the 'outs' as 'outs' is great because there are only 2-3 who we can say 'wish he was in the team this year (as in when they were 25)'. But we don't know yet if we have upgraded IMO.

Mind you over the 2 months preseason form will show we have 40 top 4 players as everyone will be flying.

I've got nothing to do this morning before working later so I ended up watching Townsends highlights again. I'd never heard of him before he came to Richmond but he's one of my new faves :) Reckon he'll make an immediate impact
Townsend is the Dan Jackson replacement, right down to the same number 23. I look forward to him belting a few of the opposition gun mid-fielders.

Pretty happy with the list changes. Pending what happens with Dusty, I'd argue we only lost 1 best 22 player in 2015 (Newy) - who some would say was probably past it anyway and gain a potential elite talent in Yarran, a future best 22 player in Rioli, some potentially shrewd recyled players (we have a decent track record of turning into better players) plus a number of exciting youngsters and prospects. Outside of Newman's leadership and experience, we also lost the experience and professionalism of guys like Foley and Knights who's bodies were cooked either way plus some solid depth players like Dea, Petterd and Arnot.

Overall, I'd say our 2016 list is a bit stronger (both in top end talent and depth) than 2015.
